From visordown - Biker may be forced to pay thousands after banned new owner has fatal crash.

Short version of the story - Chap sells his bike to a bloke who is banned from driving and uninsured. Needless to say the seller doesn't know this. Seller forgets to cancel his insurance. New owner then crashes and kills himself. Seller's insurance company, MCE, say that they are liable and will be claiming costs back from the seller - because he didn't cancel his insurance.

Poor sod will now be destitute.

Nightmare for the guy .... Question is the chap is no longer the owner of the vehicle so will the insurance not be invalid on this ground alone?

It's not surprising that some don't immediately cancel policies when they sell the bike.... because the insurance companies change ludicrous "administrative" fees to cancel or amend policies.
Perhaps a representative of the insurance cartel would like to attempt to justify these and other iniquitous charges they levy!
