Below is the e-mail "conversation" going on between me and A.N. Other. This little episode has been gathering speed since I last posted the VFR up for sale on Gumtree last week:-

Hi Kimberly
I have been asked to e-mail you to let you know if my VFR750 is still for sale - it is.
The lowest price I will go down to is £1800 - the bike is really in great condition and that is what I think it is worth.
Hope to hear from you soon.

I am wondering if you are the original first owner and I hope it is in good condition, if there wont be any cause of disappointment if i purchase it from you? I'm buying it for my husband as a surprise he doesn't know about it and i believe he will really enjoy it. I don't want him to know about it until it delivered, but there are few thing i would like to know about it as well :

1.Could you send me some more pictures if possible.

2.Do you have a verified PayPal account ?

I am NOT the first owner - I am the 4th owner.
It is in great condition

All the pictures I have are on the advert for the bike on Gumtree
I do not have a paypal account - cash is king via a face to face transaction
Regards

If you don't have PayPal account yet, it's pretty
easy, safe and secure to open one, Just log on to
www.paypal.co.uk and I will be responsible for the PayPal
charges fee, when you are done with the registration send me
the email used for the registration, so
i can transfer the fund, this can't take you less than
3 minute to do that.

Yep, forget it.

You have given two alternative payment options, any genuine buyer would be happy paying by an alternative method.

Anyway, you've only had the damn thing 5 minutes.

Oh, and there's a load of grammatical and spelling errors littered throughout the "buyer's" emails.

Steve, if it were me I would discontinue all correspondence forthwith and sell it to me for £1500. Sounds a bit of an iffy deal to me mate, best forget that prospective customer.

Steve, if it were me I would discontinue all correspondence forthwith . . . . .

Just did that after they insisted that I had to take paypal, cos they couldn't pay any other way!

. . . . . and sell it to me for £1500. Sounds a bit of an iffy deal to me mate, best forget that prospective customer.

£1500 - no hope :respect10:

I knew that it was a scam when I first replied to them - I've just been stringing them along for the craic. I have omitted my latest replies, cos I've basically been calling them names . . . . . . . and they just reply that they can only pay with pay pal - tic-as-feck they are.

Anyway, you've only had the damn thing 5 minutes. Oh, and there's a load of grammatical and spelling errors littered throughout the "buyer's" emails.
Lutin, 5 minutes in my world is a long time recently. The bike is really great to ride and even after a 250 jaunt round the hills on it a few months ago my knee wasn't that uncomfortable . . . . . . but a few hours later I could barely walk due to the knee swelling up

As said above, I knew it was a scam when I first replied. I'm bored with them now, so all comms have been deleted.

Plus I've now got 2 genuine punters showing interest :respect13:

It's 100% a con, I can see that from the first sentence. Walk away or string them along if you're bored.
