Big Trailie A to Z challenge for 2017

Building on Nick's North East South West thread of photos I thought it might help the profile and improve the traffic on the forum if we had our own little challenge for 2017. Not competitive or anything just an excuse to get out and about and be creative with photos of you and your bike.

What I thought was: provide a list of A to Z themes and each person has their own thread to post their photos in as they get a suitable photo for each letter. It probably needs its own sub-forum with a "control" thread that outlines the challenge and any subsequent discussion on the rules etc, and each user can then create their own thread for their pictures and any subsequent comments, e.g. "Austin's 2017 A to Z challenge thread". The user declares when they think they have completed the challenge with a deadline of say the National in September with perhaps a couple of very modest prizes for first to complete, and something else like best picture or most original picture (or whatever) - DaveS to judge??.

Themes to be something like:

A picture of you and/or your bike with......
A: An Art Installation
(a suitable picture might be your bike and the Angel of the North)

B: Brewery
(bike outside boddingtons brewery)

C: Cityscape
(bike with a wide ranging city view in the background)
........

G: Giant
(bike with something "giant")

P: Pink
(a sunset perhaps, roses, or next to a pink vehicle, or whatever - this would be an example of something requiring bit of abstract thought)

I will try and come up with the full A-Z list (work in progress) and include some easy, some difficult, some requiring a bit of thought, some a bit abstract, although all do-able no matter where you are in the country or world come to that.

What do you reckon? and any other suggestions?

Great idea Austin.

On the A-Z thing, do we follow the posted suggestions ie do all participants find a Brewery/brewery related pic or can we choose our own, Bridge or [cough] Baby for example?

What I thought was we will agree on a list of things/themes for everyone and then its up to you to find a suitable subject to photograph with your bike. If B is brewery then any brewery will do and each persons thread will have their own picture of their bike with a brewery of some sort. The idea is that you couldn't just get some props out of the garage and do it all in an evening - get out on the bike and try and be creative, interesting, amusing, or ironic, while also taking a good photo, perhaps with a little story behind it. Perhaps say something about the ride there, a cracking road, and then what the Brewery brews, when it was founded and if it had a famous owner or whatever. Or if its all too boring just the photo will do thank you.

I was thinking of including a good few abstract things too, like J: joke, and Y: young (so a picture of Toby might work) so you will need to be creative to get a good pic.

Sounds good.
So long as I am not the "Z".
Don't need a load of hairy assed bikers knocking my door for photo.

Although I could be bribed with the promise of cake.

OK this sounds like its going to get general support so we should give it a go. I have a list of A-Z themes but won't post it up yet - say around Mid-December, but remember the photos need to be taken in 2017. We can then have some discussion around the list and the "rules" - which will be be pretty damn simple.

In the meantime can a mod create a subforum somewhere please so I can post up the list, instructions, and the rules, and so each user can create their own thread for their photos. I don't think I will need moderator access to the forum as it all ought to be pretty straightforward.

Can Dave or another empowered Mod create a sub-forum for this please. Perhaps in meet ups and rideouts. Call it something like "Bigtrailie A-Z Challenge 2017"

Here's the list. Open for discussion, suggestions and amendments up to 31st December. The final version at that date is what we go live with.
Yep I'll get on it later.

Rules are very simple:

Start a new thread in the new forum I have asked to be set up. Call your new thread "your user name's" A-Z Challenge 2017. Post your photos in there.

The A-Z challenge can be tackled in any order but the photos must be taken during 2017.

The photo must include either you and your bike, just your bike, AND the relevant A-Z subject matter.

Deadline is the 2017 National meet, when, if we get around to it there may be some prizes.

And I think that's it. Suggestions?

There's a couple that I might struggle with, Q and V...

Q because In France there hasn't been a queen for a while, since the peasants were revolting ( most of them still are ;)) and killed them all, so any Queen related stuff is a little thin on the ground.

V because I'm not sure the French have ever had any Victories...

( my first thought was the statue " Victoire de Samothrace" but then I remebered that this is in the hallway of the Louvre Museum and I might just struggle to get the tralp through the metal detector at the entrance...)

Queen is easy in France Chris, just nip down to one of those 'alternative bars' and find a suitably dressed person
