I am so very curious what this is going to do to the bike's road feel, having some modern correct-side-up cartridge suspension on there instead of the shoddy 25 year old oil pump it originally came wigh. :D :D :D

Finishing touches (such as reassembling that bastard of a fairing) next saturday, then probably some tweaking to get it set up just so. (If only because there's about a liter left in the tank right now and having it full will upset things somewhat.)

What forks are those, then?

Was wondering why you've been quiet - it's because you've been busy. :thumbsupanim:

DRZ400, the fully adjustable ones. Slightly shortened for the GS.

Have you had to adjust the spring rates at all?

Damn good state of that bottom bearing, too.

Spring rates, dunno. Final setup is still a work in progress as there's about 1-2 liter left in the tank right now (to assist in moving it on and off the bike while it's being worked on) and filling it up with 35 liter is bound to change a few things, but that's being done by a suspension specialist. He's ever so slightly OCD when it comes to suspension, bikes that others find ok he calls unrideable (I think the 800XC was one of them) and he has these forks on his own BMW as well in favour of the usual WP USD stuff, so I'm sure it'll be a sweeeeet ride when he's done with it. :D

Excellent stuff!

Funny thing.

I'm riding my GS.

I see a bump.

I aim for the bump.

I mentally prepare for the bump, which will be coming through my forks and my bars into my wrists.

I miss the bump.

Oh, wait, there it is, slightly delayed, from the rear. :D :D :D :D :D

The forks are still as straight as they were in these pictures (which is to say, not entirely but not so that you'd notice), they just went straight back into the new frame with a fresh set of bearings.

Here's the current state of the GS:
