Wanted Cheap trail bike

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone had any tips of somewhere to look for a super cheap trail bike?
Just really fancy a little 125/250 as I am battering the vstrom doing more than its really bought for!
Any advice welcome

I would have thought a second hand Chinese job would be ideal. Cheap in the first place, super cheap secondhand to the point of being almost treatable as a disposable item. I have no experience of them though and suspect that while engines are usually copies or licensed versions of a jap engine, so ok, the rest of the bike could be rather poor.

Also depends on what cheap is.. £1k? less than that, or more?

Cheap as possible being Road legal

Spend a bit more #1500ish and you are buying less trouble?? DRZ400 is a good choice. If you can find an old CRM250 or XR Honda in good nick you might get away with a grand? I guess if your happy with a 125 shouldbe a fair few dotted around for under a grand.

Had a drz400 a few yrs ago. Would rather a 125 or 250 ish just as lightweight as possible. Happily go do the Wayfarer etc on the vstrom but deep mud and big rocks are damaging on the big bike
