Force Ten Spindrift 300 tent for sale. £180 plus P&P

I bought this on the spur of the moment last week from a guy over on UKGSer but after putting it up in the garden today I have decided its not for me so thought I would offer it for sale here before it goes back to UKGSer where there was some considerable interest in the tent.

I met the seller from UKGSer when I picked it up and he is a genuine bloke and I have no doubt the tent has been used for just the one night he claimed. It really is like new - clean straight pegs, tight fitting pole ferules, and crispy slippery fabric, and even that new tent smell. Here's a link to his advert on UKGSer but I think you need to be a subscriber to see for sale threads.

Force Ten is Vango's premium brand and this was their top of the range Adventure tent. It is designed for high mountains or arctic use so ought to serve the average Adventure Biker's abuse quite well. Last available in 2014 (I think) it was priced then at £550 although it was available discounted down to around £450 at the end of its production. I thought £180 was a bargain and having seen it, I still think its a bargain.

oh, and I am away next week so could post before the 5th or from Saturday 12th onwards. It weighs about 6kg with packing so Hermes p&p will be £7.50.

A proper bit of kit there Austin and one that looks a bit of a bargain for a true all season, all weather tent. They use them at base camp on Everest & such like don't they?
It should cope with Ullapool's worst just fine (brings back memories of the breezy nights on the abr meet there a couple of years back after the Islay/Jura run!)
You did seem quite excited about the new purchase at last weeks gdl.

Thanks Phil. I was quite excited about as it is a fabulous tent. The fabrics are much more substantial than any tent I have ever seen, especially the groundsheet which is thick, black, warm, and I reckon you could pitch it in a puddle and not even know it. The main porch is a decent size and you could easily cook in it in bad weather sitting in the inner tent and everything would remain dry. The rear porch is big enough for panniers, boots etc. the inner is well vented for hot weather too. It really is a great well featured tent.

But reason it's not for is is that it's just a bit low for us getting in and out - it is a mountain tent after all and our current helsport tent is easier to put up and roomier most crucially taller. After sitting in the new tent for a couple of hours deciding if we could live with it on another extended 4-6 month tour we decided we couldn't. So I thought I would put up for sale straightaway rather than hide it in the loft and forget about it for years.

Now that is a proper bit of kit, good price too.

But, the strange one would have me goollaggs off if I bought another tent.
Pity, looks about the same size as my old cheap 3 berth which I loved ( so much so that I have forgotten the make :D )

Anyways, GLWS , looks a cracker

Thanks both, Steve, that's what I was uttering to myself last week but failed.

I am increasingly in two minds about this one. It is great and I might just hang onto it just in case I ever get to Iceland or Nordkapp slightly out of season or even camp at Durness in a northerly winter gale. I reckon I could put it at the top of the cliff there in a force 10 and be comfortable.

In fact I can feel a run out coming on after next week is out the way. It's free at sango sands now isn't it?

Just in case anyone else is interested I have decided to hang on to this tent for the time being. I think I will have a long weekend in it sometime to see how it is to live in before deciding to keep permanently or sell.
