........whyI don't ride much in the winter.

I just returned from a quick 3271 kms, 4 day drive to Thunder Bay (north of Lake Superior) and back - hundreds of kms driving like this

and when I got home, 16 inches of snow in one day! I won't be riding for a while yet.

Proper snow and proper cold that. I wouldn't fancy a drive to TB and back in that in or on anything.

And just so people know - the road to TB is not like the M6 or anything it's a remote single carriageway in a remote part of the world. Places are dozens of miles apart. Think northern Scotland not southern England c

15 hours ago I was in 36c heat and high humidity at Cochin. I just stepped outside for the fist time on the uk 0c and foggy. At least the humidity matches but it felt shockingly cold.

I trust you and Anne had a good time and haven't come back with too many foreign bugs.

I was thinking about you as I was driving along . It's too bad you had to ride that route in the rain. On a fine day - or in the winter - it is spectacular in a quiet, awe inspiring way. Not terribly dramatic like the Rockies, but immense, far, remote and a little intimidating.

Between the Soo and Wawa (200+kms), I was the only vehicle going my way. For the whole trip, there was nothing ahead of me, and nothing in my rear mirrors - perfect! And I don't think I touched the brakes once (which is a good job, because that's the fast way to end up in a rock cut).

Yes, great time Nick thank you. Nothing too bad in the foreign bug department.

You would like the royal Enfields out there. A Very cool bike in India, it is it's natural home and there are plenty of the original "wrong footed ones" around as well as the newer ones. Plus some blinged up ones on the Indian style!! (Yeuck in other words).

It has been cool up north :hitler:

Nick,

Consider yourself lucky you are getting seasons, before you know it you'll be posting spectacular pictures of trips to remote places. In the UK getting remote is more of challenge.

But then, there are the occasional days when the temperature rises enough that the roads are snow free (if not salt free) (Sat Feb 20th).

Good for you for getting out on the bike, Nick.

The temperature cannot have been much above freezing though.

That looks bloody awful and bad for the bikes too. :thumbd: Yeuch, rather you than me.

Bad for the bike but good for the soul. Temp about 5c, so not too bad. The bike is plastered in WD40, but it's clean on the inside. Even with a bit of salt damage, it will outlast me, so who cares.

And this from a guy who never cleans his bike! :rolleyes2:
