Metzeler Tourance

First thing to say is that they are a damn sight easier to fit than Michelin Anakee 2's. Well, the new rear that I wrestled onto the rim yesterday was. Haven't got the wheel back on the bike yet as my foot pump decided to depart this life as I was inflating the tyre to try and get the beads to sit properly on the rim. So, first job this morning is to cycle into town to buy a new pump as trying to inflate the tyre wih the small hand pump I carry on the bike was a bit time consuming to say the least.

is it one of the new Chinese Tourances?

I just found out they have switch to manufacturing them in China (having put a new one on last week)

I'm sure the Chinese tyre is softer than the old Tourance I've had before

will see how long it lasts but I'm expecting a shorter life out of it

No, this one is made in Brazil of all places.

If it's made from nut kernels it'll probably last for ever then :)

Yeah, but I might need to beware of macaws though. ;)

The Michelin Anakee 2 needs replacing on the rear of my AT, phoned up to order one today and low and behold they can only get the Anakee 3 which I don't really fancy. Is the Tourance a good match for the Anakee 2 and will it be ok with the Anakee 2 front (as there is plenty of life left in that) or is there a better match. Im doing a Bikesafe course next Friday so thought id splash out.

Cheers Mike

I've always liked Tourances but the new ones seem soft, I've only done 1000 miles on it so far so can't comment on how the new ones wear.

That's exactly the situation I was in, hence the purchase of the Tourance.

Swapped my Metzeler Karroo 3 knobbly chunky winter tyres for my holiday metzeler Tourances. Wow how I mist theses bad boys. The bike is quieter, improoved fuel economy by five miles a gallon and is so planted in the corners its like riding on rails. Its all about rolling resistance and coedesion of friction. :

Good grief! That's just over a 17% improvement!

You'll probably pay for the tyres in fuel savings alone by the time they're worn out.

My Tourances normally last 8/9 thou on rear and 15 on the fronts

Resurrecting an old thread

I just bought a pair of Tourances for the F650 and they were both made in Brazil

will be interesting to see how they compare to the Chinese ones on the 1150gs (that's assuming it ever runs again :) )

bringing this back from the dead again

my first Chinese Tourance is now dead at 8500 miles and badly squared off

I normally reckon to get 9000 from these so not far off what I'd expect

the front is squaring off too now and will be getting replaced at the same time, it's probably got a few 1000 miles left in it but seeing as I'm heading to Scotland in a few weeks I'll replace it now and have good rubber all round for the trip

Resurrecting this thread as I've just had a new front Tourance delivered from the visorshop. Ordered early on Monday and delivered this lunch time - £58 delivered.

This one's made in Brazil just like the rear I fitted in May last year.

Don't know where the Chinese Tourances are coming from.
