Touratech Racks and ARD Cases

So, finally got around to replacing my Vario boxes with sturdier ARD cases fitted to TT racks. One question: Should the soft clamp be touching the exhaust?? I cannot see how else it would fit. See the last photo.

Yeah think i'm going to have to. Odd design really. Do you know anyone else with TT racks on an early 1200GS Russ, perhaps I can ask them?

.... are you sure the one on the opposite side isn't more slim?

They were second hand and already fitted so i assumed they were right but that's a good point. Will take a look next time I walk up to the garage!

I've just looked at the instructions on the TT web site and there's no mention of there being different size blocks each side.

it just says fit both sides identical

is there any movement in the exhaust mounts to be able to move it away a bit?

my Givi racks did have one bolt that used to touch the stock exhaust on my 1150 though from emeory

No Ian it's rigid, there's no play. I think i'll cut a bit out as Russ suggested.

Phone TT just to make sure.
Something not right there, shouldn't be that close.

Just before you start hacking away at an expensive set of rails, maybe they have had previous issues.
