Evening Gents,

Going to put this out to the masses, I know it has been done to death :thumbd:

I've always stuck with TKC 80's On the AT but then when I bought the KTM Adventure it had a TKC 80 front and a rear Dunlop Desert (I think). I replaced it with an other Dunlop and it has been a good tyre.

So now that I'm not doing as much off road but still want the option to be able to just turn off on to the dirt, (to tempting living on the edge of the Northyork moors). I'm just looking at my options.

I've been looking at the

Metzeler Karoo 3
Heidenau K60 Scout
Mitts E-10

So looking for your opinions. dry, wet, gravel, mud, noise etc. Will mainly be Tarmac

Thanks guys and girls :thumbsupanim:

Scout is a good allround road tyre for me. Pretty decent in the rain too. They last about 10k miles on the GS. The 21" front isn't all that great offroad if you're used to more proper knobblies, it's not useless either but it's no TKC. They are much better on-road than TKCs though.

The one big downside of the Scouts is they have a (deserved) reputation for leaking on tubeless rims. If you're running tubes you can ignore this. :)

Haven't had the other two.

Hi Mate,

The Scout is top of the list from what iv read at the moment, and id be running with tubes in so that would be ok.
Just after others opinions as iv only ran TKC's and the Dunlop.

Thanks again

My favourite combo on my 950 was Pirelli MT21 front and Mefo SuperExplorer rear.

I moved away from Heidenaus in favour of harder compound and more aggressive tyres. The old compound Heidenaus are now Meffo Super Explorers but are not available in 17 incah AT size. The fronts tyres are also softer compount now.

I ran E10s on both ATs, performed OK in the dry but the front is no good in muddy conditions offroad

On the road they were great, much more tread than the TKC80 and I even ran them at Cowm Quarry Enduro. I still have them on the RD04 Marathon but went to E09 Dakars on the RD07a. Another hard compound that lasts well and performs well once scrubbed in

I put a review up on XRV on both

Dont listen to him,he rides like a lunatic on anything.
I would go mixed. Rear K60 front TKC if you still keen on the off road stuff :thumbsupanim:
I tried the E10 and they didnt last long at all, especially if you do more road. I normally get more miles out of tyres than anyone else but even i killed a rear E10 within 2000 miles.
I normally get about 12000 miles out of a K6o and you should get about the same out of a TKC front
