XT1200Z electrical issues?

Started the bike outside work yesterday, and it turned over and didn't start first time (for a change). Tried again, started.

Went out to the garage this morning, dead. No dashlights, alarm wouldn't disarm, nothing. Connected charger, displayed as zero volts, zero amps.

I've left it charging and come to work on the Vara, so I'm not sure what I'll find when I get home, but does anyone have any initial thoughts?

A few suggestions -

Loose or corroded battery terminal.

Loose or corroded earth.

Dead battery - it's unlikely as they tend to die over a period of time, but it's not unknown for them just to give up the ghost.

Spoke to the local Yamaha centre, just in case it was a known issue with Super Tenere. They diagnosed a dead battery (with a caveat of "it's over the phone, but our best guess would be...").

Bought a battery from them, which they thoughtfully charged for me before I picked it up, fitted, problem solved.

Phew
