Hi everyone. It was great to meet such a warm and friendly group of like minded people this weekend. You all made me feel very welcome. Thank you Andy for choosing my campsite!

In other news, I've lost my parking ticket. I'm guessing if I wait long enough they will send me another which I can then appeal?

I reckon Walnut was the real legend.
We need a video of her tent raiding.

Me....? Leg - end who should know better.

A fleeting visit from me but an enjoyable Friday evening nevertheless.
Thanks to those that took the time to organise it all.

You'll all be pleased to know that is absolutely pished it down when I eventually headed sway from Norfolk mid afternoon. I think thr cloud was following me well into Lincolnshire.

Hopefully Andy/outrunner captured some good footage on that fancy bike cam.

I got home around 4PM and only had about 10 minutes of rain while crossing the border but the wind was something else blowing me all over the place. Phil, with regard to the video unfortunately unless I have my laptop with me to save footage the camera over writes the files as the card fills up so all of the video was of the A47, A17,A1 and the A68 on the way home so not really anything exciting that you would want to see.:(
Anyway, it was a great weekend and I had a good time meeting everyone, thanks go to Bernie for being kind enough to put up with us and for taking the time to lead a nice ride around the area. I hope you guys that got a ticket have success with the appeal, with Kev on the case I am sure it will all get sorted. :thumbsupanim:

Are you sure about that Andy?
Maybe you should 'enlighten' us [emoji2]

Hey RC, I'm thinking of Utrechtse Heuvelrug or the Veluwe. Great roads there, and should be plenty of campsites.

JB

Yeah Veluwe is nice. I might know one or two nice roads there.

(Shortest National trip ever that would be, including the half-an-hour-off-the-ferry fiasco of 2015. And a lot less expensive. :D )

I had some misconceptions about going to the National this year and now that I have had time to look back, here are my findings

Misconception no 1

The Area -- thought that Norfolk was too flat, not enough hills or scenery
Wrong ------ Paul S took us out on a great ride out on the Friday, really nice area and Bernie took us out on the Saturday, across a cable ferry, some really gnarly lanes, excellent stuff.
Thanks so much the pair of you. Bernie, great meeting you and sharing a wee dram. Paul thanks so much for offering to go sweeper, know it's not as you normally ride :D,
and I can only imagine you needed to change gears more frequently than normal ;)

No 2

The weather ---- Looked horrendous on the long term forecast
Wrong --------- We had the best of weather on the ride outs, only to get enveloped in rain when we returned to camp. I found it particularly exciting sharing Alba's small tarp with
himsel and Alastair, thunder and lightning crashing away not too far from us , great stuff :p Anyways, it dried up really quick

No 3

The campsite --- Looked on line, funny toilets, no pub nearby
Wrong ------ You would never know the toilets were self decompose, hot showers. Bernie laid on loads of free firewood, joined us for a wee dram every night, what a star :cool2:
Free use on freezer chest and phone charger, brilliant for cooling the beers, who needs a pub when you have cold beers on tap ?

No 4

The turnout ---- Saw that the list was getting smaller and smaller due to various personal issues, thought it would be bit quiet
Wrong ---- The craic was awesome, everyone sharing a wee dram which I really enjoy, just great. I hope someone can post a picture of Pete's Vader Blaster.
Absolutely awesome :respect:

No 5

The distance --- Not really a major issue for me, but a long way none the less for a weekend
Wrong ---- Enjoyed the way down on me tod, never got lost once, thank you Mr Garmin, and on the way back was accompanied by Alba, Mike and The Auld Git :D
Excellent company, helped by the fact that I didn't over indulge on the Saturday ;) Was getting tired close to home when I saw an open gate leading to
a forestry track, stopped and thought about going up for a blast but the Auld head in me kicked in thankfully and I turned around to go back home.

Many thanks to all who made such a fantastic weekend.
If someone said let's do it again I'd be up for it as fast as a ferret up a rabbit hole :clapping:

Slainte everyone

Good thoughts lowflyer. For me it's the people that make it, everything
else is a bonus. Pleased you made it ( and so was cabby). Lol.

Parking ticket appeal sent. Thanks to Cabby for your draft! Has anyone heard anything back yet? I got another penalty through the post today for driving in a bus lane, so I must be on a run. Just need a speeding ticket to complete the set.

RE-GEARLEVER......Re-shaped the damaged one...and now better to use than pre-spill in the field...but now have a spare one...I bought a...Raceline GP150...steel...20mm longer...sticks out 20mm wider...sprung swivel ended...£15 incl post...Consider this a good get out of the crap card for the Transalp
