Varadero discs

Not sure if this is the right thread......but here it goes:

My Dero's bck discs are getting to the point where they might need replacing. The bike commutes in the London traffic every days and in view of the light weight riding it, the discs have taken a bit of a beating. Bike is close to 30K miles.

Last service at 28K Honda said discs would need replacing and quoted something like 250 quid fitted (rear ones only).

I would like to put it something a bit nicer on the old girl but without spending a fortune. I know very little about after market spares and would be grateful for any tips suggestions as usual please? It's got to be something tough and durable......

Thank you

What year is your bike?

Wemoto list aftermatket discs by EBC and Kyoto at around £95, CMSNL list an aftermarket disc at around €100 and David Silver's list a rear disc at £145 ish (inc VAT).

These are prices for a 2004 model - not sure if the rear disc changed over the model's life.

Thank you!! Bike was first registered in 2014 and it's one of the latest model....EBC and KYOTO are good..?

Registered in 2014? Is it a late registered 2010 model?

I have heard complaints about EBC, but they wouldn't be on sale if they were that bad.

Cannot comment on Kyoto, but the same applies.

I suppose a check on whether they have German TUV approval would give some piece of mind.

Louis Moto have a TRW/Lucas rear disc on offer at €80. It looks like the one offered by CMSNL and has type approval for Germany.

I'm sure there's loads more - but I think I've probably confused you enough for now. :)

There must be only one disc on the rear surely...
Joking aside, maybe try a more accommodating mot place in future ;)

You could do worse than contact All Bike Engineering

They're based in Greenwich - not sure if that's near you or not.

Thanks for the tip, I contacted them today, they are looking into it to see if they have the already made or if the discs need to be made anew. So far, it all sounds very promising and the price tag is nowhere near as high as Honda or EBC.......will let you know how I get on.......
