Another riding route for those that need an excuse to get out and about on the bike:-

Tourism boost expected with launch of the North East 250

or here:-

North East 250 | The Ultimate Road Trip To The Heart Of Scotland

Personally, this worries me – the NC500 has attracted the monied A-holes in their sports cars, which has, in part, led to a rise in RTC’s on the norths roads. True, the NC500 roads are, in an awful lot of places, single track with passing places type roads. The roads of the NE250 have, in the main, got a white line down the middle, so some of the NC500 problems may not surface here in the north east!

Anyway, start planning your NE250 – NC500 riding holiday for 2018 . . . . . . but miss out the bit round Aberdeen on the NE250 – it’s sh1te.

That route will never be a popular as the NC500. The NC500 has the cachet of taking in the most northerly and remote roads on mainland Scotland and is therefore something a challenge to get to and complete. The NE250 though, it is clear to all (it is to me anyway) that it is a marketing opportunity to drag in visitors to the principal sponsors. Not for me as some sort of special trip.

I have to say, I haven't noticed a particularly massive increase in sports cars and the like on the 500. It has done wonders for the areas concerned on the route which is not a bad thing as a lot of them were getting neglected through lack of trade in previous years.
What has surprised me this year is the increase of tourists on Skye. We have three contracts over there and getting accommodation was nigh impossible. And the lets that were on offer were asking silly money. I think the police actually advised folk not to go unless you had accommodation booked previously.
We eventually secured a house until March next year but we had to wait 6 weeks to get one.

The NC500 will never be matched in terms of scenery, wilderness etc IMHO , but good luck to the others.
I think we should start to look at getting the border guards out :D
Only allow two in per family

I was told that it was all down to Skye being a location for a couple of Bollywood films as well as the start of Prometheus (Alien prequel). It was rammed the last couple of times we have been there.
