I have to be back in the evening but It's a couple of hours' ride or about the same by train, so I should be there. What are the arrangements?

Don't, whatever you do, mention I used to live in Pompey. I might not get out alive.

Unfortunately I'm at a family funeral the day before in Grantham with the family so won't be able to make this. Give him a good send off from me.

Would it be acceptable, do you think, for me to pop down on my bike and attend the funeral in bike gear? I'd need to head straight back afterwards. Otherwise I can get the train to Parkway and jump in a cab in a suit and tie.

Ok, for the benefit of those not on Faceache

Myself and the wife went down to the funeral last Friday as you know, and we stayed down for the rest of the week touring Somerset, Devon etc and had a great time.

Big thanks to my wife for supporting me, Pete and Debs,Chad,Chris Wheal and Jonathan who turned up and did the site proud ( even though someone wore his " Achtung Spitfire " tee shirt :D Guess who ??:p

I was asked by the family to say a few words which I did to the best of my ability, so I guess I was representing you guys who wanted to come, but couldn't make it. I mentioned this at the time. I wore my Kilt to bring a bit of Scotishness :) to the funeral and I added a bit of humour which I know Geoff would have liked.
The family are really chuffed to know Geoff had a great time with us and are hoping to meet up soon at one of the meets, possibly Achitibuie. They had no idea he was so well liked and respected by the XRV/Big Trailie fraternity.
I invited anybody at the funeral to attend the National in Geoff's honour and I think a couple are interested.
Geoff will be returning to his adopted country next year, his ashes to be spread over his favourite hill for one last visit. I am meeting Geoff's daughter next month at Belladrum, she is using Geoff's ticket :(, so I will see what the craic is with that.

Lastly, many thanks for all your comments over the past few weeks, meant a lot to me.
Geoff and I got on really great together, I have lost a very dear friend as I know most of you have also.

He will be sadly missed.

Your speach was brilliant John. Explaining how a bike.forum works and how we met. Not sure anybody understood all of it but there is still hope that one day you will learn how to speak proper english :rolleyes2::rolleyes2:
Chad and i are both sufferin severly today as we had to drink for 3 as Geoff was wirh us. At least in"The spirit"
My bike fixing has been slightly delayed due to a sudden illness to my bike mechanic (flecking lightweight :cool2:)
But he is confident it will be sorted by tomorrow so i will be riding again.
Roll on the national. I shall ride Geoffs favourite road a few times in his honour:ride::ride:
