280 mile tank range

So it’s nearly time for me to change my GSA for something newer.
I’m thinking of a change from another GSA, so any suggestions on something that I will commute on, and can do circa 280 miles on a tank full?

Not sure many options with that tank range. Try a Yamaha tracer gt. I suspect it will feel half the weight of the GS. Alternatively the orange beckons. Some good deals on KTM Adventure range.

Yeh I might try the Ktms for a change, however going back to Fowler’s for servicing will be a shock!
Or I may just stick with another gsa.
I’ve heard good things about the 850gsa but not sure on tank range.

I went from a 1200 GSA to an 800 GSA and it spoilt my riding experience for a year. The bike was good, 60mpg, but I couldn't get on with it. It wasn't for me. Be careful before you make the change. The other side is a lot of people have made the change and love it.

That's almost 6 hrs in the saddle without a stop for that range. A stop after 2-3 hrs would allow a refuel at the same time

I have recently brought a Honda ST90 which has a 2 1/2 lt tank, it might do the 80 miles but the other 200?
Most definitely not suitable for you.

Yeh this about commuting and not having to fill up each week, I do around 200 miles a week, so filling up each week or less is a pain, hence liking a bigger range.

I agree. If you have to divert to a fuel station, that wastes fuel. Furthermore, on long trips you can't guarantee a fuel station conveniently situated every 200 miles.

I generally refuel soon after the 'last gallon/4 litres' warning comes on. If the tank holds only 20 litres that's a poor ratio.

I dislike stopping to refuel. You can't beat decent economy/range.

The Vstrom could exceed 300 miles (325 was the most I had) on a 20ltr tank with a bit of moderation or Rochester to nr Wigan @ 285 mls (with a bit of a diversion), the super frugal XCountry was generally 100miles, 160 miles max and a complete PITA as you were always planning the next fuel stop.

The 24.2L fuel tank – and the engine's fuel efficiency of 21.8km/l (WMTC in DCT mode) – provides a range of over 500km. The 2018 CRF1000L Africa Twin Adventure Sports

Although it's been discontinued now, the latest Moto Guzzi Stelvio's have a 32 litre tank. Should be good for around 250+ miles.

There may be some 2018 or even 2017 models for sale at a decent price.

I've got the 2009 Stelvio and it's a very capable bike.

I think after some research I’ve narrowed it down to 2 bikes.... another gsa, probably 1250 Rallye, or I fancy a change to the KTM super adventure 1290. So I’ll arrange a test ride on the ktm I think and see what it’s like.

I was beginning to wonder if I'd got this wrong, but my figures are similar to yours. I'm averaging about 65-70 mpg (14-15 mpl) so if I ran the V-Strom's 22 litre tank empty, that would take perhaps 310 - 330 miles. I don't exactly thrash the bike but I've certainly been riding on a variety of roads, not just gently cruising motorways.
