Hi guys. May I suggest you keep this thread about the trip and not carbon emissions and all that crap.

I'm sure if you want to have deep and meaningful discussions about green issues and slag off the ferry companies/airlines it would make for an interesting thread on its own.

Err, surely since the imposition of the additional charges wef 1 Jan 2015 directly affects the PRICE of a ferry ticket against that of Eurotunnel, it is valid, informative and of great relevance to all parties seeking to travel on this trip blah blah blah?

I really don't give a toss about all this environment sh*t - look outside today, if that white stuff is global warming then mine's a banana. What does affect me is the price of petrol and isn't it so lovely and chea . . . . less expensive than 3 months ago :thumbsupanim:

but this is not

for once let's try and keep a thread on topic before we have to start editing posts out to a separate thread ;)

Pete, did you not notice this bit on the second campsite's webpage?

"On the dates 28/05 - 01/06 and start tour de france 08/07 - 10/07 our site is completely reserved "

Bad news. There's now a birthday party organised for that week for a family friend.

Good news. Its in Marmande, so I'll do the first weekend then head south!

There's a village on the way down that was left as it was after the war, Oradour-sur-Glane. Might try and go see this on the way down south.

Am I allowed to express congratulations in anticipation or am I presuming too much (not to mention being off topic)? :respect-001:

Oooooh I can't wait for posts from Phil moaning about the price of nappies, then childcare, and about people without children parking in the car park bays reserved for those with kids. His spleen is about to be so vented he'll need a new one.

Back to the original topic :D
I just had a answer from the campsite in Ypres. They do have spaces for us at the time we want. I did ask provisionally for 4 tent spaces and about 8 people and they said that space for tent and bikes is no problem :thumbsupanim:
