Best video camera GO PRO Hero 5?

Lots of options out there but is the Hero 5 really the best option for general bike use especially now it is stabilised? Lots of clones and copies out there but happy to pay for what you get? I guess remote control is what I am after and a couple of mount options for different bikes (transferable). Not sure I trust helmet sticky options

Most of my video is captured on old Hero and Hero 2 cameras (the shitty bits are from my digital camera - click my name link to go to my motorcycle video channel Nick Adams )

I hear the latest iterations of the Hero are excellent. If so, they are probably worth the money but there's no substitute for broadcast quality, and there's no substitute for decent film editing software, many hours of labour, a huge dollops of talent (which, sadly, I'm generally lacking......).

It will never be solely about the captured footage - it's what you do with it afterwards which will determine whether you are happy with it or not.

Too true Nick

I lost count how many hours I put in to my New Zealand footage and I only ever got half way through it

I have a GoPro Hero 3 Black I think it is... great quality but the form factor of the GoPro's never really does it for me, they are like bricks, but the video is very good.
I also have a Drift Stealth which I use a permanent camera whilst commuting and at a £100 that takes reasonable footage, but not as good as the GoPro. Also the battery doesn't last long, but you can permanently mount it.

There are a lot of options out there. I like the fact the new one is stabilised but as you say Dave they can be a bit of a lump. The stills are meant to be pretty good as well

Use a GoPro 3+, stills lifted from what's been recorded during my jaunts.
Remote control is available via a dedicated doo-dad, or an iPhone app.
If applied as per instructions, those sticky mounts are tenacious little buggers.
Suction cup mount also works well on smooth, clean surfaces (though I always err on the cautious side and tether).

New Hero 5 stabilised you say ... hmmn, worth checking that out.

If I were first-time buying (knowing what I now know), then I'd definitely get a new GoPro.

As for image quality, here's an example of a screen grab still from a GoPro 3+, reproduced at 72dpi x 1000 pixels wide. Good enough for my purposes.
