Bit of bad news. Pembrey will only take bookings from armed forces personnel, and unfortunately young Richie has rather selfishly :cool: decided it's time to move onto pastures new.

First of all many thanks to him for helping with the arrangements for the last few years it was much appreciated.

Next I've had a quick look for alternative accommodation in bunkhouses. The prices vary starting from from £25 pppn. This depends on the size of the bunkhouse which depends on the number of people attending.

So how many of you can commit this early and do I carry on looking?

hmmmm, aaaah, well, I sorta don't know.

Much as I enjoyed the last one I did feel like this may have run its course. Enthusiasm was low as was turnout. Perhaps a new place, some new scenery, a handy pub, and some ride outs might be just the re-boot this needs.

Yes I will commit (dates???), and do carry on looking but I think it needs a reboot.

We stayed at Eastern Slade Barn for a couple nights last year just after the do last year and then at the Millennium Hostel in Lawrenny with some friends the weekend after. Both great places and both willing to host a group of bikers (I asked). Both have a mix of twins/double and dorm rooms but both also on the small side (13 & 16 max people respectively IIRC)

Agree with what you say good points.

Problem is do I look for a bigger place which if we don't get the support I'll cost a bit, or do I look for a smaller place (12/15) and thus make it first come first served?

I would say first come first served according to the size of place thats available. Accommodation with the flexibility of Pembrey or the outdoor place we used to go to are rare. Although as its well out season I would expect anywhere with any sense to be very cooperative. Good luck with the search. Are you & Sharrie OK wth the catering side of things. Perhaps if there's a pub handy and the kitchen/dining facilities are small then you won't have to do anything.

I agree that going for a smaller place and booking FCFS is likely to give you better choice of venues. A late booker could take over a place from someone who wants to cancel.

I agree with the sentiments above.
Realistically what numbers have we had the last few years - a dozen or so?
I'd certainly like to register an interest but we have too many variables to commit atm, so I'm happy to take a chance & be a standby.

Sorry about this chaps, a bit out of my control with Pembrey I'm afraid. Happy to muck in with whatever the group decides to do but it's pretty clear I think interest is declining for whatever reason. I must confess im a bit detached at the mo but my Camper distraction is soon over and my GS is, hopefully, soon traded in for a shiney new AT Adv :)

If the dates get sorted soon and I can make it I'll confirm. But somewhere different would be good. Personally, I'd even camp.

I'll commit & I'll arrange myself to suit a date. Maybe a venue slightly further north, I remember Mike saying about coming inland & the prospect of adverse weather. Newtown, Oswestry, ish?
