Yep. I am not a big fan of motorcycling on ice and snow. It's moderately funny helping to pick up other people's bikes but not your own.

I wouldn't even get the bike from the shed to the drive the snow is nearly a foot deep, even if I could manage that the road is like a sheet of ice, it wouldn't get 5 feet.

I will be up with Steve barring shut motorways but we may go up in the van (bikes in the back) and will be staying at Deano's next door to the yurting. I am happy to go walking in the snow if you fancy taking a car instead. Obviously the weather looks a little interesting at the moment. I've paid a deposit for the yurt of £35 which I assume I will lose if we cancel but dont worry too (catch me when you see me). Lets see what happens by early next week and make a decision if you still want to come along?

It'll be fine by then ;)
I'm more than happy to chip in to cover your deposit Tony, if the worst happens but a wander about also sounds good if the bikes stay put.

We'll be in the middle of a heat wave by then. :thumbsupanim:

As I don't have a car, I'll either be coming by motorbike or not at all.

If it does all fall apart, happy to chip in Tony.

Where I am - about 20 miles south of the lake district - there no snow to speak of. However reports are of lots of snow in Cumbria and what with the mountains and all that I am sure there is enough just now for it to be problematic getting in and out of Coniston. However it could all be gone by this time next week.

Sorry but I still cant make the weekend due to a prior engagement with my old University boozing buddies :drinking10:

Got around 18 to 20" of snow here and it is still snowing a little as I type this. I am of the same mind as others Tony, if I don't make it I will not see you out of pocket mate.

Thanks gents. Pretty horrendous here as well but by next weekend the Lakes will look stunning in the Sun! Looks like 2 still interested in coming down that were in the yurt (John and Phil?). Obviously this would be expensive for 2 so maybe I best cancel (or reshcedule?) on Monday. If I lose the deposit chuck me 2 pints each when you see me next (who mentioned chucking). Obviously you are still welcome to come up and stay in the area and have fun with us. Let me know what you think.

Forgot to mention the campsite also do a 2 man pod thing so if you are keen let me know as I may be able to transfer the deposit across to one of them?

Sorry guys , going to have to pull out.
Been trying to fight this man flu and sinus issue since Friday, not getting any better.
And tbh, the weather here is windy, cold and sleet, not a great incentive for me to sling me leg over a bike when I'm below par.:(

Tony,

Many many thanks for putting this together. I'll send you a pm to sort out the cash with you.
Would have been good to share a beer with you and the guys.

Some other time my friends

Ok, who is still up for this?
I'm still fancying it but now won't be there until Friday evening or I'm happy for it to rearranged if that suits others better.

I am. I'm coming to Windermere Thursday. My friends there tell me the roads are clear, even if the hills aren't. Please don't all cry off.
