Hi Guys,

It's been a long time since I've been on a bike forum,
Spent the last few years either threatening to get back on a proper bike or hovering around Alfa Romeo forums.

Recently I've been toying with the idea of getting another bike to replace my Classic Vespa (Which I hate with a passion and haven't ridden for over two years) I've checked and my no claims discount expires mid July so I need to make a move soon or lose it.

I've been looking at the Royal Enfield Himalayan (New) or the compulsory R1150GS (2000 ish)

Anyway, that's not the reason for this post...

I woke up this morning and was told by the radio that today is the longest day.
sudden flashbacks to 2008 for the first TLD John O Groats to Lands End, and the 2010 Chase the Sun Lowestoft to dingle.

Good Times.....

Sad that it's so long ago,

Really should get my thumb out of my arse and get a proper bike again instead of pretended to like I have a few times.

P.S.
Peel Island.

Still think of Frad from time to time :) (Great bloke, only really met him for the peel island weekend but he made a life long impression :) )

Paul S (was always happy to say Hi, and always remembered my name, Hope to meet up with you again when I finally get back on two full size wheels again)

I was long distance courier back then, so the appeal of doing what I did Monday to Friday wasn't hoooge ! Once everyone was ready for the off though
I was wishing I had signed up ! The next year I was a couple of days fresh out of hospital after nutting a lorry, but my dad got me to the ACE to see everyone off. Nine years later and I've never been able fully get back to riding the way I used to. I haven't said it for a few years - You wouldn't think it but I'm a bit of a loner and folks here as well as the XRV mob really pulled me through that period. Thanks again and again and again peeps .

Axe, get out there ! time runs out faster than you think

Peel island was a blast .... what an opportunity to meet so many genuine bikers and a few (ish) beers.

Piel Island was a blast (I think it was anyway, like most, I can't remember much of it!)

As time goes on, I wish I have TLD a punt, it just never appealed at the time.

Long time no see Axe, I too remember fondly the first TLD and also Chase the Sun, never got to do Piel Island and that's a regret. I rode with them over the passes when they went as I couldn't make the full event so that was better than nothing!

Must admit the TLD thing has been on my mind too. I do the first two. And did Piel Island. We must organise something.

PS. secret Vespa lover. Left home on one aged 18.....

That would be amazing.
Lets do JOGLE again :)

Currently it's looking very much like I'll be back on 2 full size wheels in just over a week :)

The Vespa might be for sale soon, I really don't like the small wheels, lack of brakes, lack of acceleration, etc. its a 1965 Vespa 150 Sprint, Italian, been in 2 families (one of them mine, one of them Italian) since new, Almost full service history, probably the most original one in this country :)

I would put more effort into selling it but it looks amazing sat in the corner of my decking.
