A different type of PTW

Last weekend we went to the local county show. The local Honda dealer was there with a large selection of e bikes, so I just had too didn't I?

Really strange. You have to pedal because the electric bit hasn't enough oomph to move you otherwise. With no assistance it's just a normal cycle, it somewhat lardy. However, when you press the button it takes off like a scalded cat. I have to say it was a real giggle. The biggest problem was the price, the model I rode was over £2k.
Still it was a laugh.

Stuart has a KTM one and I had a wee blast a few months back and it was a hoot!

Not cheap though like you say, but you can get cheaper ones that are just as fun.

Just get a real pushbike :)
I got a Cannondale CAADX 105 back in 2015.
Done a heap of miles on it, was planning on doing LEJOG back in 2016 but work got in the way.
I still plan to do end to end but not sure which birthday it will be for (hopefully before I'm 50)

E Bikes are great, technologically brilliant some of them, if you have to pedal then why not do it all under your own steam?

If you are looking for a bike to potter around on then just get a cheap one and go slow for short journeys to start with.
You will soon be going further and faster than you thought you could.

Training your legs to turn pedals is much easier and happens much sooner than you think.

I've been cycling for the last 4 years, I'm overweight, lazy, and enjoy far too much beer than I should, but I can (and have on several occasions) cycle from home to Angelsey in a day (over 110 miles) if I feel like it (and have enough holidays left from work to use one, not this year unfortunately)

Axe.

I’ve got a haibike, German made, been using the, for years.
I’ve now weaned myself off using the electric.
So I drag around a 24kg bike with electric I dont use! :cool10:

I've recently bought a second hand Giant Defy Advanced. It's knocked a couple of minutes off my local 45 minute time trial which I used to do on a steel-framed GT MTB with skinny road tyres.
And I'm just back from the Isle of Man where I did the TT mountain course on it!

I have a Carrera Vengeance E. I use it everyday to commute to work, it helps when cycling up a 1 in 10 hill.
