Sorry to have missed this one. We had tickets for Wasps vs Exeter, and it would have been an epic ride both days for one night of it. Anyway, very good game, end-to-end try scoring. Hope the midgies were absent and you guys were able to raise a glass to Geoff in a suitable location.

Winter camping meet at the Three Stags?

Just got home at 4.30, 150 odd miles in the wet and another 160 in the dry after having a great meeting with a select few good mates who made it. Much whisky was consumed in memory of dear old Geoff. A big thanks to all for a great time.

Andy.

Great weekend again. Thanks to all those who were there and the excellent bimbles we had. Hooning around is so out nowadays.

Very wet packing up. Everything got soaked. Shame realy because at 4am there was a light breeze and the tent was dry. Shortly after it started raining and got progressively heavier. After feeding the midges I left just before 9am. 483 miles to home after a detour.

Stopped at Newtonmore for breakfast and a fuel up then did stop and go fuel. Home just after 6pm. Tent back up in the garden and everything else drying out inside.

Strange thing happened on the way home. Just got near Preston and the rev counter started acting like a compass needle, not sitting at a specific revs but hovering either side if where it sounded it should be. Did not feel any engine issues. I left the motorway and followed the A49 home incase anything was wrong, I did not want to sit on the hard shoulder. After leaving the motorway it seemed to settle. Any ideas anyone?

PS this is the first time I have arrived home and not washed the bike and lubed the chain. Cream crackered now!

Back home a little under 3 hours after leaving the campsite - I know, not the long haul the southerners have had to endure, but now they know how those of us up north feel when hitting the southern hot spots :D

Wonderful weekend of laughter and memories. Great to meet up with some of the "old" crowd - very "old" in Andy's case ;)
Cracking days riding yesterday - thanks for the company guys :respect13:.

Be nice to make this meeting up lark an annual event, don't you think?

Posted a shed load of piccies up on a seperate thread. . .

Many thanks to John (Lowflyer) for setting up this event. Brilliant location mate. It was great to ride out with you, PaulS and SteveT for a while on Saturday too.

I think the last ‘national’ I was at would’ve been Dent, 2007? None of you have got any prettier :p (with the obvious exception of Mrs. Vader, that goes without saying), but it was great to see you all again :). I didn’t get to have a proper crack with everyone... next time. Did someone say we’ll be in God’s Own Country for the 2019 ‘national’?

Anyway, I thought this was a nice sized gathering and, for the most part, we were really lucky with the weather. The midges, bless ‘em, weren’t too bad most of the time either. The location was brilliant - I pitched my tent with a sea view - LargeWayRound and I got an Indian Reservation thing going on with our Teepee like tents. I’ll post some photos soon.

Today I left the campsite at 10.15am in bright sunshine! Didn’t last long though ;) Rain showers to Aviemore, then relatively clear and sunny from there all the way home. Took a few detours on the way back and covered just shy of 410 miles for the day.

A big thanks to John for organising the weekend and accommodating/feeding Paul & I on Tgursday and leading is round the bends to Achuliwhateveritscalled.

Pretty much 3 seasons in one day coming home yesterday with the M80 down to 20mph for a while, due to the volume of rain!
Home at 4.30, hacked it pretty much all the way with a nice little twisty road detour through Crieff but no greasy spoon to be seen for brekki/dinner so Greggs nr Sterling had to suffice, then the usual B7076 in leu of the M74.

Great to catch up with everyone as ever, fantastic scenery, well, apart from someone kept leaving a pile of scrap in the way!

Well that was a weekend to remember :p Never known so much carnage at a National, Geoff would have been proud
One wee fella asleep with his hounds, another big fella having an argument with a random rubble wall, the wall won :D
Many thanks to those who made such a special event.
I woke up on Saturday with a tremendous hangover, that and some sinus issues led me to drift away from the guys and headed for an amble along towards Drumbeg, an old haunt of mine to see an old friend in the village. Scenery was stunning as usual.

Lovely pics John. Glad you all had fun. Sorry but I was with Kylie in London at the radio 2 party in the park.

Brilliant Jim,

Was feeling a little emotional when I asked for a toast to our good friend, but that last photo sums up what it was all about.

Just a bloody good craic. :clapping:
I am sure Geoff was up there watching all the " goings on" :D

Going to stop at that parking sign from now on, a moment of thought in an area of outstanding beauty

Thanks guys

Great stuff guys (and Debs), looks like I missed a cracking weekend. We ended up having a drive around Europe for a few weeks in a new little sports car for a change - just got back home about 30 minutes ago after driving from Northern France today. Hope to see you all next time.
