Another bimble today down by Kelso, Yetholm and across by way of Hownam, Oxnam and on to the A68 at Camptown. The road is a bit narrow with the usual holes, gravel and agricultural debris but if you just want to potter along at 40/50 Mph taking in the scenery it is a pleasant way to spend an hour or two. I stopped on a hilltop to spend a bit of time taking in the views and having a fag.

All these photos we taken from the same place, the middle one shows the wee wooden signpost for Deere street the old Roman road. I sat there for about 20 minutes and the only things I heard was the buzzing of insects and the odd bit of birdsong and all this no more than 25 miles from home, don't you just love Scotland.

Lovely. That lane looks tempting, but it appears there are no legal green lanes in Scotland! :(

Pootled about for another 130 miles today exploring some back roads from Brampton to Hawick and was enjoying myself so much I did not stop for too many pictures but I did take a few.
Hermitage castle near Newcastleton.

Further down the same road is Whitrope heritage centre on the old Waverly line.

Every time I drive by there it always looks the same, seems like a load of old tat to me but I am sure rail enthusiasts would disagree.
A few miles nearer Hawick is Shankend viaduct, now I can appreciate the skill that went in to building those things.

Well, thats all folks, we will see what tomorrow brings.

There is always an exception to the rule I have heard it said. There is a signpost that I stupidly did not take a picture of that says no vehicular traffic from April until the end of May. As it is a cdross border route I presume it is OK to use it.
