4 Counties & a border crossing

A combination of no truck to drive & a sunny day coerced me on a 207 miles jaunt through a border & 4 counties. Starting from Abergavenny passing through Skenfrith, Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury, Tewksbury, Pershore, Broadway, Guiting Power (saw it on a calendar many years ago) and a fab lunch was had in Bourton-on-the-Water. I couldn’t believe how busy it was, dread to think what a weekend is like, haven’t these people got jobs? Easy cruise down the Fosse Way to Cirencester, Tetbury, enjoyed the panoramic view going down Frocester Hill, skirting Gloucester, before stopping for a glass @ Birdwood. Heading for home through the Forest of Dean into Monmouth & then old road through Llantilio Crossenny to Abergavenny. The low setting sun on the final leg was making riding difficult at times. The Varadero returned 55mpg & no pain, my friend on his ZZR1400 needed to refuel & 2 Ibruprofen.

Good wee run out there Stuart.
Think I was in Bourton on the water some years back, remember the small bridges over the aquaduct or whatever that water channel is ? Not very deep for sure.
Lovely area and looks like you had good weather as well, how good can it get ??
Nice one :thumbsupanim:

Nice ride out though. Full name and contact number on the table ? I'd edit that out before you start getting calls from India !

I'm restricted to my county due to Covid cases!

Rather irritating that a coach load from Bolton (highest rate in the country) can tour around here spreading their germs, but I can't travel down to road for a coffee!

This week, Monday, almost the end of summer I had a ride in the opposite direction on my Africa Twin (XRV750) to do the Hereford & Mid Wales VMCC Cwmpas challenge visiting a selection of locations through Mid Wales (see VMCC Herefordshire section ).

Started from Dursley (Glos) over the old Severn Bridge up to Abergavenny to join the A40 to Brecon with a diversion to Llangors my first challenge point on to Brecon where the mist finally cleared then Trecastle where the sun came out and I diverted onto the Epynt Range to see the proposed (2018?) Wales TT circuit resuming the challenge at Llandovery on through the lanes to Llyn Brianne Dam and through the superb scenery to Tregaron up the B4343 to Devil’s Bridge across the mountains to Elan Valley, lunching (eating my pasty!) at Pont ar Elan. Along the A44 to Kington down to A438 and Bredwardine for the last challenge point on toward Ledbury, Gloucester and Dursley.

Quite a lot of bikes from Tregaron to Devil’s Bridge and around Elan Valley but few elsewhere, traffic light except for Abergavenny and Gloucester.250 miles in 9 hours @ 66mpg.
