    Austria 2023 (again)

I kinda like Austria. Roads and views similar to Switzerland without the costly vignette. Better food too. As usual, I researched places to visit on the way, so I had somewhere to take a break every day, some days two places to take a break. First day, the Royal Military Museum in Brussels...

It was either too sunny: Or too stormy: The roads are pretty boring: And there's so much traffic: The buildings are dilapidated: And you never meet anyone interesting: Crieff Cloverleaf? Nah, give it a miss. (With apologies to the Visit Wales for nicking their style!)

Proof that silver-grey is the fastest colour.

My GPS says that, back in December, while manoeuvering my bike out of the car park, I hyperspaced to the Atlantic Ocean* and back again: a distance of 5712 km. Two seconds to get there, and two seconds to return, at a speed of over 10,000,000 km/hour. Fortunately, I wasn't caught on any speed...

    I've been out scouting again

More crappy roads for a South Wales ride, perhaps later in March? As if the roads and wet conditions weren't challenging enough, it snowed for a while, which kept obnubulating my visor!! (Obnubulate is a real word, honest!)

Best tyres for mixed on / off road

I know this has been discussed extensively in the past, but manufacturers have brought out new tyres and updated old styles. So what would be good for muddy lanes and the occasional (legal) off-road? Notes: 1. I'm not so bothered about longevity 'cos I have another bike for long rides. 2. I...

    Another V Strom

Since I have nicknamed the BMW R1200RT the Death Star, I feel I ought to give the V Strom a nickname too. I thought X-wing, since it's small and not on the Dark Side. Or maybe not... A few updates follow.
