A Picture a Day

Just a couple from last weekends UKGSer gathering in Moffat.

Just him and me Friday night, then 1 other on Saturday evening

These two are of a possible gathering site in the north of Northumberland, at Clennell House . . .

They have their own bar and they do food

And then a couple from my ride home yesterday . . .

No other piccies taken as we were enjoying mainly dry but very twisty roads for the whole of Saturday :respect13:

Many thanks to Austin who displayed his vast local knowledge of the roads in the area to great effect, and for covering Saturdays lunch time bill :respect:

Quick note to anyone even thinking about using the Green Frog campsite . . . . DON'T!
The site rules are altogether nonsensickle? which, aligned with a septic and frankly dangerous site manager/owner (never asked), makes the place one to avoid at all costs. The young fella that came onto site on Saturday evening stated that he'd be better off wild camping given the grief and verbal that he got from said man!

The city I live in celebrated that it was 80 years ago today that the place was liberated by Canadian forces.
They had some of the remaining Canadian veterans over, aged between 94 and 105, accompanied by military vehicles and a whole lot of bagpipers. Good.

And also, funny little world. Got talking to the people standing next to us, who were Canadian, and who it turns out may be a very distant relative of my wife. They had the same last name, for one, and he actually looked like the rest of her family. Small world.

If that's the north west Wild Atlantic Way then you'll have been not too far away from us.

Some more pictures from my wanderings as I get aquainted with the little GS.

Sunday past paid a visit to Strathconon . . .

. . . and seeing as the sun had managed to break through the har, today I just went for a bimble a bit more local to me . . .

Thinking about fitting the full on knobblies to the little bike for the D2D in August. The Bon Accord club are holding a practice session on the 24th of this month, so may be get the rubber changed over and use the little bike for that.

Bound to be some "resting bike" pictures from that day ;)

And for some reason the pictures won't load when I save the post. They do show during editing. *shrug*

Out for a bimble yesterday - usual low traffic loop of Cabrach, Strathdon, Lecht & Grantown.

Due to a rather large wildfire that is still burning strong and heading northwards from the hills, the roads to Forres & Nairn from Grantown are shut - 3rd day now. Yesterday this led to rather a lot of lost camper vans on the B9102, looking for a way to get north.

Cuppa time on the Generals road, no where near the smoke . .

Turned off the B9102 towards Dallas, where the burning heather was rather obvious. This is Pauls windfarm near Ballindalloch . . . many miles from where the fire allegedly started near the A939 Little Dava road

There were tens & tens of these loverly moths flitting about. Seemed to me that they were almost being lured out of the heather by the smoke. Magpie Moths, apparently!

The wind today has come round and is coming from the south, blowing the fire ever closer to some small villages. Some crofts in the hills are already in the line of travel of the fire
