Angle grinder

I bought a rusty old Motolug trailer a couple of weeks ago. Started doing it up but need to take of a few very very rusty bolts. No chance with spanners, plus gas and heat so I hit the bullet and bought my first Angle grinder. Wow, just WOW. why haven’t I had one all my life. Loving it so far. But I can see unwanted clumsy damage looming so trying to be careful.

just a makita cheapy via Amazon but it’ll do me.

When you’re putting it down make sure you lay it the right way up if the cutter’s still turning, especially on your new paving slabs.:cool:

Also don't take the guard off. I did. I still have the scar in my leg to prove it. I was sat on the sofa trying not to faint digging bits of skin, clothing and disc out of my leg whilst stemming the bleeding.
They are evil things and have phenomenal power but very useful!

Oops, first thing I do is take the guard off (well, off the little 5" grinders anyway)

Thick heavy gloves are your friend ;) oh and appropriate eye protection [emoji106]
+1 on the eye protection, can't say how many times I've had something flung in my eye from one of these things 'cos I'm only using it for 2 secs'....

I currently own 3 of the things a 9" Dewalt with diamond blade (ex Frad [emoji106]) a cheapy 5" and a 5" Dewalt 18v cordless.
I must have worn out well over a dozen of the little ones, either the motor or bevel gears go. If the motor goes, i leave them running and let them smoke & burst into flames [emoji38]
The gear life can be vastly improved by removing the inspection cap and adding a little gear oil [emoji6]
