Fantastic views from Hartside and surrounded by great roads - just a shame the food was crap.

From North East Bikers:
After the bad news about Hartside I thought some of you might like to try a new cafe. It's sort of on the way over Hartside, just maybe three mile out the way. Anyway, it's Jill's Hut at Folly House, Folly Lane, Catton, NE47 9LT tel.07957571885. Head for Whitfield out of Hexham, but stay on the main road towards Allendale instead of turning off for Whitfield. As you start going downhill towards Catton there's a crossroads with a farm on the right. Turn right there,& it's 500 metres on the left. All homemade grub, pies, soup , cakes & stuff. She's only open Fridays & Saturdays just now but it's well worth a try.
