Bit of a hijack sorry, but I found this old photo. This does qualify as a hairpin
The junction of Steep Street and Trenchard Street, Bristol, 1866
could one of you Bristolians tell me if this junction is still there and what it looks like today a pic with bike would be appreciated by erindoors

Why wouldn't it qualify??
hairpin bend noun [ C ] uk /ˌheə.pɪn ˈbend/ us /ˌher.pɪn ˈbend/ UK US hairpin turn

bend in the road that is so sharp that it almost turns back in the opposite direction

And as Bob already has his it doesn't really matter does it. Merely interested in seeing firstly if that particular road is still there and if someone wouldn't mind showing it as it is today.
And lets face it some of the submissions have been truly dodgy on this challenge

does it qualify???? Its up to you, if you think its fine then go for it.

Surely, peoples' interpretation of a subject title no matter however 'dodgy' is what makes it all the more interesting IMHO

Sorry Tim, I misread your post as asking if something you had in mind for a hairpin "qualified", my answer, the same as Phil's was meant to convey the idea that being a bit interpretive / creative is part of the challenge.

Sorry Bob, hijack definitely over.

I know that corner only too well

Over 30 years ago I tried to turn right out of Trenchard St onto Colston St in a 13t Parcel lorry, after about five shunts I couldn't make it as cars were parked on the double-yellow lines hindering my progress. A traffic warden appeared and told me to carry on, so I did and took the bumper off a Ford Cortina with the cow-bar on the lorry, I stopped but the warden said it was the drivers bad luck for parking illegally

Vauhall Magnum, wasn't that a souped up Chevette or summut like that?

Here's another photo from the 60's, no double yellow lines back then.
