Exped mat.......... again sorry

Last year at the national I spent the first night shivering with the amount of alcohol supped thinning my blood. Thanks to Pete and Debs who lent me their spare bag I survived the weekend. This year I'm taking 2 sleeping bags and I'm on the market for an Exped U7 mat this should do the trick. Has anyone seen any good deals going or where is the best place to get one. I called in all the hiking/camping shops at Ambleside and bowness and they all say they can't get hold of them. Any ideas

Try Tamarack Outdoors near me in Garstang. I was in there today and they had a good Exped display but cant say I noticed what they actually had on the shelf as I didn't pay that much attention. They will usually discount if asked something like 10-15% possibly more. (in fact they had a 20% off everything offer over the bank hol weekend so worth asking if they will do it now - if you speak to someone called sally she will discount as she is a pushover, her husband Mike though is a F**k-off big ex-guardsman who won't discount ).

Holy s%=t, they have gone up in price since Austin put me onto them. I got the big one, sure it was 80 quid.
They do transform the nights sleep though.
Next on the list should be a down sleeping bag and a silk liner.

Aye, thats about what I paid.

In my experience a silk liner is not as good as the hype. In my experience they add precious little warmth but do get tangled up inside a bag. I mainly use them instead of a sleeping bag or under an opened up bag/duvet in warmer weather, or in dorms in hostels and such places. Try Jag Bags http://www.terrevistatrails.com for truly humungous funky bags. I got one as a pressie a couple of years back. Before that I had one that cost 1pence from Vietnam.

I did not think much of them but i was wearing too much clobber in the sleeping bag for it to work.
Shed some clothes and its great.

silk liners are ace if your travelling and used as a bed liner as bed bugs and creepys wont bite you through them.. used mine on some dodgy rig sites in Iran & Algeria....

Exped 7 and down sleeping bag, can't go wrong. Think the bag was about £100 reduced from mountain warehouse .
I carried a liner for a while but then decided I didn't need it so ditched it


Horses for courses I guess, I find it warmer with less clothes on in the bag.

+1 that's what I use and it will cope with anything.
