My mother in law has just gone into a care home. On the assumption she is going to stay there we need to empty her house before renting it to cover a tiny bit of the care fees.

So, we have a house full of memories, furniture, and general effects that we need to dispose of. You name it it’s there. Does anyone need anything from teaspoons to double beds to furniture, nick- nacks, ornaments, white goods, etc etc.

If you have an elderly relative there’s two electric reclining chairs - one on leatherette, the other in a nice mint green suedette, plus a manual one also in green suedette. All in super condition. We will probably want to sell her Mayfair city rider mobility scooter too. We may wait a few months before selling this just to be sure she won’t use it again.

Open to reasonable offers for big lots. Let me know what you are interested in. Everything to be collected from Garstang near preston Lancashire.

That's a shame Austin,not so good.

When my dad took a stroke many years ago, my mum looked after him until eventually, she couldn't cope and we had to put him in a home.
Different laws back then, so I had to strip him of all his assets to avoid losing the house. Hardest thing I ever had to do, but the crazy prices they are/were wanting to put him in a home left me with no choice.
My mum looked after him by herself for five years so I reckoned the state did well out of us.
He lasted six months in the home, which, incidentally, he loved.

Good luck with the decommisioning, hope it doesn't cause you too much heartache.

Thanks John. MiL has decent widow's pensions and enough savings to cover the residential care home fees for several years, renting the house should extend that to 15-20 years but she won't live that long. Hopefully we will never have deal with social services. If ever she has to go into a Nursing Home however the costs will rocket and that day may come a bit closer. Wife's family also had the foresight to put the family into a family trust years ago so even if the savings did run out we won't have to sell the house to fund the Nursing Home fees.

Some of the family have had a ferret through stuff so a few bits now spoken for but we do have:
A king size divan bed
A standard size divan bed - was the spare bed and slept in for only 4 nights by MiL's sister.

Oak furniture made by Berry's of Chipping. This is a local bespoke furniture maker, all is in dark oak and will date from the 50's & 60's. A smallish Oak dining table and 6 chairs. The table does seat 6 but its tight. An Oak Welsh Dresser - top display, 2 drawers, and double cupboard below. Its nice. Oak low round occasional table about 15" high. Oak Hostess style trolley. Hostess trolley doesn't do its description justice but that's what it is, with two small folding leaves. Oak nest of table (3 tables). All the above match in design and style. All in fine used condition, no loose joints or anything.

Oak bookcase. 50's/60's style.

Oak Wardrobe. Single door and drawers. Top shelving. Not the best quality and the catch needs attention, but otherwise fine & sturdy.

Reclining chair. Just like one of these. Lightly used.

Two other reclining chairs. There are not as good as I first thought having lived in an unused conservatory for years. A bid faded and some marks on the arms from where an inappropriate arm cover was. But both fine and sturdy and perfectly acceptable. We will try and clean the marks off.

Loads of pictures, books, ornaments, nik-naks and doo-dahs.

Curtains, vertical blinds.

Some disability aids: raised toilet seat on a frame, perching stool, wheeled trolley, shower stool,

Fridge Freezer. quite old but still work just fine.

Washing machine, tumble dryer, worktop mini grill/oven thing. Toaster, cutlery, crockery, glassware, etc etc etc.

Atco 12s electric mower - works and I have sharpened it.
Qualcast Concorde E30 mower with a scarifer attachment.
4 x Plastic garden chairs and round table.
2x Gelert collapsable camping chairs and 1x lounger

There's loads more.

If you are interested in anything I have listed or anything else we might have let me know and I will send some pics and a better description. All available for any sensible offer. If it doesn't sell it will probably go to the charity shop.
