OK, so we've arrived in the NW (Garswood to be precise) and set up camp at my sister's. Not sure how long we'll be here, but to at least Friday. And yes, I do know it's Wednesday already. ;)

So, anyone up for a Gentlemen (and Ladies) Do Lunch?

Saturday it is then. Where?? Jellies? That cafe in Kettlewell? Roaches cafe in the peaks (we had the Xmas GDL there). Somewhere else. But.....

Not the ponderosa!!.

Right, so Saturday - never mind the riff-raff.

Looks like we're going over to Pontefract after all. So the GDL will be on the way. I suspect a rather roundabout route to get across the Pennines though.

OK, that cafe in Kettlewell it is - its the one on the south side of the road between the bridges and opposite the car park entrance. Shall we say 12ish.

Tony, if you like we could meet at the Tickled Trout Services, J31 of the M6 at say 10.00am and I can lead a route through Bowland and the Dales. I don't think Anne will be coming along though.

From Kettlewell it would be a good run along Coverdale to Middleham then down to Masham, Ripon, Harrogate, Wetherby and then A1M down to Pontefract.

That sounds like a plan - but could you give me your mobile number Austin just in case things go awry.

Hopefully the weather will calm down as it's been on and off heavy showers here all day.

Well that was a nice little meet, but with Rachel present and it being a Saturday not really a proper GDL. Nevertheless Een705 and I met Tony and Rachel as planned at the Tickled Trout services with T&R absolutely soaked after a very wet ride up the M6 from Warrington way. Ian and I had only had good sunshine and that's how it remained until most of the way through lunch when we had to retire inside the cafe and order more tea while we sat out the rain (and thunder). T&R later headed off to Pontefract via Skipton from Kettlewell into a very ominous black cloud while we headed towards Hawes into some light rain that soon passed away and we were back on nice dry roads. Ian and I parted ways at Ribblehead viaduct and I believe Ian got home in the dry. I didn't, riding through the centre of two very heavy showers before getting home to be told it had been gloriously sunny all day at home. Showers, Huh. A good day all round though with some great views of the best part of Northern England from the Bowland Fells and Yorkshire Dales. I didn't see a camera or a phone come out all day so I am guessing no pictures. Sorry.

Thanks to Austin and Ian for a select ride-out.

It actually stopped raining before we got to Skipton and we were skirting that large black cloud - the one with the flashes of lightening inside it. However, we got rather damp before we got to Pontefract. Nothing desperate mind - just unpleasant riding.

'Til the next time.

As posted on XRV, anyone fancy a GLD this week while the weather's still nice?

I'm thinking Thurs (27th Oct), maybe head to the Yorks Dales or Lakes?
