Took the old R80 out for a spin to Ullapool today.
Stopped at the Loch to see if the water has risen over the past few months, it has not.

If you look in the background you can see the road disappear into the Loch.
This was once a village before it was flooded to form a dam for Hydro power, the dam is at the far end of the loch.
I have passed this many times through work and I have never seen the road so exposed. The road itself is in reasonable condition, complete with a bridge and a milestone !!
At one time apparently you could see a chimney stack poking through the water.
That aside, the old beast performed really well, so glad I carried out the resto work on it, I shall be sad to see it go.
It certainly caused some attention on the front at Ullapool, old bikes, nostalgia ain't what it used to be :D

reminds me of my old R65......first bike I ever rode Tuscany to London, two up and an awful lot of camping gear :) It would not go fast, it would not stop quickly, it would just keep going mile after mile:)

The sweetest of the boxer engines...lovely

You are quite right Tony, very sweet motor.
Having just finished another of Sam Manicom's excellent books, I can see why folk like Sam are taken with this motor for long distance.
The buyer is collecting the bike next weekend, so I thought I would have one last blast on it today, just to make sure it was all ok ;) and I have to say it felt it could keep going on and on etc :D Sitting at 4-5k revs, sweet as a nut.
Really is a great engine for touring.

It’ll run out of petrol eventually, but yeah, pretty much that.

There’s a reason I put the 35 liter tank on mine. Harwich to Deep Wales before hitting reserve. :D

Brilliant :D

First time I have ever ridden an R80, have to say, absolutely loved it.
The riding position isn't quite right for me, however, with a bit of practice I am sure I would get into the swing of it.
Too late, the deal is done, but I will be sad to see it go down sarf, and I also need to get some room back in my garage.
I mean, 4 bikes FFS :D
