Interesting article about preventing bike theft

The first part is an interview with a police officer. All the usual advice, mostly good advice, but stuff we've heard before... And then the second part gives a completely different view from an actual (ex)thief!

Not sure the extent this translates from USA to UK, but interesting:

It subsequently occurred to me that the ex-rhief may not be typical of most bike thieves. Mos, iI believe,t are sociopaths with no thought for their victims, but he did have a conscience, albeit suppressed. Even so, his comment about thieves who use vans are the ones who got caught goes against what we are comonly told.

he's a career thief, he has no conscience, no morals and is more than likely using the opportunity to spread disinformation to further his own ends. I take a lot of it with a pinch of salt.
