Following a bit of chat regarding the Lake District as there is no Welsh invasion this winter I shall be at Deano's on the weekend of March 9-12. Now he lives next door to the Bowkerstead campsite in Satterthwaite so I thought if anyone fancies a weekend away the offer to lead of a rideout on Sat/Sun is there and a few shandies in the local Fri and Sat evening.

They have pods and a bunkhouse as well but as I have no idea if there will be any interest so I think it best you sort yourselves out regarding camping/accommodation. Lovely area with a local that does does good grub a short walk away (Eagles Head). The rideouts will promise great scenery (Hardknott in the snow is a laugh!).
Happy to take a lead on Sat and Sun rideouts.

UPDATE
I cancelled the yurt Tuesday as people were cancelling and it was going to be expensive for just Phil! The campsite said i could use the deposit to rebook again sometime. So Phil and Chris can i ask you guys to get together and contact the campsite directly. Happy to use the deposit in my name as the yurt will still be available if u want it still? Alternatively use the deposit to book a 2 man pod which will be cheaper as another option. Good to hear we got a few along. CU in the Eagles Head Friday night and or rideout Sat morning

This is highly recommended, stayed here en route to the National 2016, pod was ace (well for me anyway, poor Bob) & the food in the Eagles Head excellent. Maybe Deano will be doing Big Trailie discounts on breakfast / midday food. Good shout Tony, will check Diary / SWMBO.

Great stuff. I better get my shiz together. Stuart D...You are welcome to come up with us sir. Heading up Friday and back on Monday. We could hook up Monmouth way? I will get Deano to have a chat with the campsite owner to let him know there may be a few of those dreaded bikers coming and get the pub to get in a couple of extra bottles of whiskey! As Stuart says the pods are recomended (but basic) so might be worth contacting the campsite direct to see if they are avaliable? The lanes will almost certainly be wet underneath and can be pretty challenging so will probably be only on the grey stuff for a couple of lovely rideouts. Nice biker cafe in Keswick, Wastwater, Loweswater, Winlatter, Honister, Hardknott, Wrynose, etc...May take a peek at a the Keswick Old Coach Road but it would be optional!

Sounds like a plan Tony, scooping me up at Monmouthish. I'll drop the campsite an email to check availability & special Deano rates for the Bunk Barn (sleeps 8 for £80/night) and pods

Update on accommodation
The Barn is already booked but there are 2 yurts available;- large 6-8 £80 & small 4-5 £50, the large having cooking equipment but both having beds & log burner. There are pods available but are basic with nothing inside.
Anyone interested in sharing any of the above? Do we having definite/ maybe numbers to work with please?

Sharing with a Welshman is no problem - I is Welsh meself. Stuart and I can discuss sheep till the . . . . . . . you get the idea :)

BUT . . . .

. . . . . sharing a confined space with a drunken Jock

I'll need to check my insurance  . . . . . . . and obviously have a chat with the strange Inversnekien.

Hopefully he'll catch site of this thread and save me the cost of a phone call - you learn quickly when surrounded by them, as I have been for 30 years :D

Having just spoken to the boyo, I am in also

If you guys want to share a bunk with a hairy assed Teuchter, then that's all right with me :respect13:
Talking sheep is also ok with me.

Stuarts just informed me of this, looks a good time to stretch the Guzzi's legs and dust off my tent!

Will probably just be the Saturday night for me, I'll make a ride of it on the way up on the Saturday.

I'll give Derek a shout too.
