Looking back

I sold the Transalp today.

I bought it in may 2000 with 38,000km on the clock. It has today 140974km.

In all that time, it has NEVER let me down, depite being used and abused copiosly. I had 1 cdi unit break up, but rode home on one cylinder and one clutch cable snap which i was able to bodge to get me as far as a shop for a new cable. Other than that, I only ever did basic maintenance and replaced wear items ( tyres, chain and sprockets, oil and filters, fork oil, brake pads, brake fluid, 1 clutch, 1 set rear wheel bearings and 1 set of headstock bearings.)

here's looking back over 17 years and more than 100,000km's in no particular order...

Glad to see at least one photo of your Transalp having a lie down for a rest.

oh yes, that was due to an epic dose of stupidity on my part, I was in fairly deep sh!t and though i had a phone signal, had absolutely no idea where I was or how to explain to someone how to get there to help me get out, so I had to get out on my own... a couple of hours to do less than a mile if I remember rightly. but it taught me a lot, specificly to avoid going places, alone, where I wasn't ceetain of being up to the job...
