do people use phone ups for navigation? I have just put a quad lock on the bike (really pleased with it) but GoogleMaps is a good tool for moving in town etc.
Once out of the city, I would like to have something more like a TomTom winding roads option.......is there anything out there that works well on a phone .....? Please....?

Depends on your phone Tony.
I have been using Scenic on my I phone, also on a quad lock, and works really well.
Good for doing random circular mystery tours from your base. You can vary the mileage radius you want to cover. I've been on some crackers

I've been messing with osmand, specifically for tracks, mostly because it's a hell of a lot easier to quickly get a gpx file on there compared to the old zumo. Not sure how it holds up as generic satnav, haven't tried that yet.

Kurviger is another app like Lowflyer mentions where you can let it conjure up a route of a certain length and direction, website's nice too but it's not available on iphone unfortunately.

You can send routes from Kurviger via Scenic to your I phone. I use it a lot.
Think to be fair you have to sign up to Scenic to allow this.
