Are you happy with the quality? And it’s a wired system I take it?

Yes very happy, I was going to go 1080 camera but the price was very high so decided to go 720 camera but the box can record in 1080 if I ever wish to upgrade the odd camera etc... I have it displaying to a 24" HD Monitor and the quality is superb, much better than SD system I had. It's only been in a week and I've only just finished wiring the last camera so all 8 have been running for 1 day now so can't really comment on longevity but I don't see why it shouldn't last; and for £145 for box and cameras they're easily replaced if something fails.

Yes it's a wired system, I was looking into wireless but decided against for two reasons. 1. You have to run a cable to power the camera anyway so it may as well be wired. 2. I asked an engineer that does the CCTV at work when he was there sorting our CCTV and he said wireless are notoriously unreliable and also mentioned the wire for power.

It looks at the moment I'll get about 3 days continuous recording on 8 cameras with my 1TB drive. To extend the record time I am going to set the inside shed camera to only record if it detects motion, I may do the same with the alley camera and that will give me a longer record time. I will most likely upgrade to a larger drive at some point *when I have more money* lol

That seems a good set-up. So I guess your only risk is that any thieving scum bags nick the cctv box?
I have a couple of ip cameras running over my network wirelessly in the garage and they record to my NAS in the house. However they can suck all the bandwidth out of the network so was looking at a standalone system.

have things really got that bad that cctv is now commonplace on private property in the uk now? I know that France is waaaaay behind ( about 5 to 7 years i reckon) in the technology devolopement domain but I can't think of a single person I know here who would consider it neccessary to install cctv on their property...except maybe one who I know has an alarm on his house but he's an insurance agent so doesn't count. Is it more down to the area ( to be fair I live way out in the boonies) and I expect the big cities are much the same wherever. Looks like a good set up though.

In a word, yes. The guy across the road was broken into just a few weeks ago, my old CCTV caught them and the police took a copy but it wasn't brilliant footage so I was already thinking of upgrading and the old box going bang made the decision for me. Someone has also been in my back before and lifted my bike cover (when it was out the back) and the same night that happened another guy's moped was nicked from a few doors down.

I've spent about 4k having the back concreted, a new shed, all insulated and wired with power, new tools and my bike sat in there etc... I'll be fucked if I'm not going to spend a couple of hundred quid on HD CCTV to keep an eye on it all. As i Type this I'm looking at my bike inside the shed, I can see both cars on the front and my alley, it really does give you peace of mind. :)

Strange to think that this is what it looked like just a few months ago.

This is a screenshot from my iphone, as you can see the quality even on the phone is very good. It's good enough to know the garden area that's left still needs sorting! Need more hours in the day!

Bit of a worry all this camera stuff. :(

My wife mislaid her car keys on Thursday, hunted high and low.
Guess what, she left them in the ignition all weekend :D:D
Just discovered them this morning --- guess it's where you stay.
I regularly leave my beer at the back door, never been touched ( except of course by me :D ).
We are lucky up here, not saying crime doesn't exist, just we are lucky where we stay.

So Craig ---- party or not ??? :D
I can even moon dance in front of your cameras

Shed c/w fire extinguisher looking good :respect:

When we did JOG to LE we stopped off in Creiff (think that's how you spell it?), apparently Ewan McGregor was born there, or some such thing, anyway, I digress. We stopped in a wee B&B and in the morning I couldn't find my ignition key; looked high and low and checked all pockets 5 times, going out to the bike I see my key sat in the ignition key and it'd been in it all night.
