North West/North Meet up between Christmas and New Year?

Anyone interested in meeting for a late breakfast and perhaps a ride somewhere for tea and cake later? I can currently do any day after boxing day except Friday 30th.

I have never been to the Route59 cafe near Skipton. Dales are then on the doorstep. Or happy to go elsewhere if someone has a better suggestion.

Long term weather forecast is looking promising for Tuesday & Wednesday. Cold but sunny and dry.

Tuesday is good for me too. I will try and get both sons to come as well.

As there are no other suggestions shall we say 10.30 to 11.00 for Brunch at the Route59 Cafe between Skipton and Bolton Abbey on the, rem A59. (I had better check its open). We could rendezvous somewhere convenient - Tickled Trout say, or ????

The Route59 cafe is closed on Tuesday. I will have a think on for somewhere else. Still meet at TT for 9.30 though.

Darn - wish I could join you. Settle is one of my favourite small towns (from my 2015 Royal Enfield tour).

Wet, as usual in Settle. Nick.

Railway Station cafe in Hellifield is different, unusual and a bit quirky (if it's open). If not it's not far to Settle.

Whoops (it helps if I read...). Tickled Trout is t'other side of the F of Bowland, ain't it. But yes, it waspissindown. I bought a new pair of rain pants in the outdoor store next to Ye Olde Naked Man.

That works for me.
Tickled Trout services, what, 9.30ish?

Tickled Trout is the service station on the M6 / A59 junction and is a convenient meeting point. The main ride out starts from there, into the Bowland Fells somewhere along the way, and Settle a good end point after a couple of hours on roads that would freak out most Canadians:ride:.

I think Anne's favourite shop is in Settle - it would have been behind you as you took that photo - "car and kitchen" and sells Kitchen stuff, gifts, (good) cards, clothing, boots & shoes, and some quirky one-off stuff as well as a cafe. Strangely it does sell anything to do with cars. Once I have done a quick round of the kitchen stuff I am out of there.

And, pants!!.....Pants are what one wears under one's trousers - I bet you got a funny look asking for rain pants in that fine Yorkshire shop. You really have gone native ;)

Oh, and if anyone is planning to come along on this run you had better let us know soonish so we either know to wait at Tickled Trout or to meet you somewhere.

I have just been googling both route59 and Hellifield station cafe. Route59's Facebook page has xmas opening times: its shut tomorrow. https://www.facebook.com/route59/

I cant find anything about the station cafe's opening hours. I have been there once and its an odd sort of place. You would expect the cafe to be open as the trains are running, but as Hellifield is an unmanned station there's no knowing. My guess is closed until 3rd jan. Other cafes in Hellifield also closed.

Naked Man cafe in Settle is closed Tuesday - check their twitter feed.

Cafe in Slaidburn - closed!!

Bashall Barn near Waddington IS OPEN but at £5 for a bacon butty its a tad expensive. Nice though.

I will keep looking but what I am thinking is somewhere within an hour of Tickled Trout then a couple of hours ride out. Son #2 should be coming for while on his Speed Triple but as he is just back from Colombia and nearly 2 years in tropical climates he is finding it all a bit cold so won't stay with us all day.

Right, lets just head to Clitheroe via Ribchester and the B6243, there's a Booths supermarket there with a Cafe. The shop is definitely open so I assume the cafe is too. From there we can head north into Bowland and make decisions as we go. Alistair will probably head home after I have bought him breakfast

If anyone wants to join us be in Clitheroe in Booths car park by about 10.15. We won't leave here before 11am.

Doh, bollocks, never trust memory. Booths in Clitheroe has not got a cafe. Cancel all that crap above
