Just done the online thing for putting tax on the bike, only to find that the robbin bastid tax folk have put another £3 onto last years price, same as they did the year before!

    £88 fer fecks sake

Didn't see anything anywhere (no, I don't routinely peruse the goverment web site checking for tax changes, where I might have found it). We didn't even get a Spring budget for them to slip it into!

And to cap it all, the English language side of their site was down, so I went onto the Welsh language site, which was working. Failed all my language classes in school, so pressed the "English" button and converted the Much Welshness into English, and got robbed that way.

Now it's time to get Big Bird out from under the covers and go warm up her pistons :D

Cracking day up here, but by feck is it cold.

    Onwards & upwards

    Now now dear, calm down.
Brew a cup of thon funny herbal tea and ye'll be fine

Feked my knee yesterday helping my cuz with her new house build. Lugging around sheets of A393 mesh ain't good for a man of my years :(
Insulation in, DPM laid and mesh ready for concrete pour next week, good going for a full shift
Anyways, house bound till the swelling goes down, off tomorrow so might manage a wee blast if (a) my knee is better and (b) it gets warmer

    Catch you later young man.

£3 a year, that's less than a penny a day, and they say Scotsmen are tight! Compared to the £240 for my car that is small change.

Tis the priciple of the thing dear boy, the principle.

They are continually targeting the "lesser" road users cos we don't have the numbers to really take it to the body politic with any form of protest that would make a difference to their chances of re-election come the "cross in the box" excercise we call an election

Off for a lie down - my brain hurts after the mention of politics

    I feel your pain Steve.
A neighbour buys Vauxhall Insignias for his hire fleet, the 'right' diesel model is only £35/yr rfl, yet a bike (generally, a low mileage leisure vehicle) is about 2 1/2 times that.
Still, at least they have made it easy to sorn/retax them as required, helping to claw a bit back ;)

My 1977 BMW R60/7 just qualified for FREE tax this week so I taxed it today, still needs a valid MOT until 20 May but I MOTd it last November anyway.
However the Vara will be hit by the increase but wife's Fiesta (1000cc 125bhp) is also tax free, but then it is more economical (48-53 mpg) just, than the Vara (45-50 mpg) & (1000cc 95bhp).
I assume large capacity bikes are considered leisure vehicles whereas small capacity cars were considered necessary transport until they realised too many were tax free and changed the tax to £140+.

    They do and I do.
I take out 12months on the big bike, knowing full well that it'll be SORN'd come the end of October, just to avoid having to pay a little extra when only taking out a 6 month ticket.

    Every little helps ;)

Still think they are robbing us poor motorcyclists though :D
