Snugpak

Hi Bob,

I picked up an ex Army Jungle Sleeping Bag last year from Me Ebay cost me about £20.00 unused brand new with tags.

Made by Snugpak, it's a good summer bag complete with compression sack too, used it on my Spanish Trip, with an ex Dutch Army single hooped bivvy bag.

It's synthetic not down, & zips out to make a quilt type square.

Worked well good system for the bike.

Some people really rate them, but I had one and thought it was rubbish, rated at something like -9 but it was more like a +9. From what I have read the filling they used in my bag is prone to going brittle and then loses its insulation. They may have changed now as I did buy it about 15yrs ago but it was a cold bag from the day I got it. I also found it small. Made well enough though, it had plenty of rough abuse from me, and my sons at scout camps.

I've no experience of Snugpack but can highly recommend Alpkit bags

http://www.alpkit.com/skyehigh

I bought a couple for the Wales national as it was Ruth's first time camping in a very log time and I knew that if she got cold we'd never go again,

well we've been camping several times since so it passed that test :)

being down they pack down to a reasonable size and are nice and toasty at night, they do different sizes to suit hobbits and giants alike

I have a snugpak bag, packs down to a teeny size, is supposed to be 3 season & something like -5 comfort
It's rubbish, I've never had a warm night in it yet, even in the house
There are plenty of people that rate them but I won't buy another.

Thanks for the replies, I ended up getting a Snugpak Softie Chrysalis Autumn. Looks like a quality piece of kit, decent pack size but still big enough for a bit of 'wriggle room' when you're in it. I slept in it last night and it's plenty warm (too warm in the house) so looking forward to using it in the tent.

My old bag is now 15 years old so it's had it's day and I couldn't move in it (must've put some weight on  ) so for the Dragon Rally I bought a Coleman bag which was well toasty even in February in N.Wales but the pack size is much too big, especially for carrying your kit on a DR350 so I'm hoping this Snugpak will cover all bases
