Is anyone planning to attend this year? 9th & 10th July. As my Norway plan has gone t!ts up  I'm toying with the idea of riding the XL600R down there - it's 10 years since the last time. We'll see :eekicon:

From a recent coversation with Fiona, AfricaJim and Fiona are working their way down to the Stella this year on Jims latest ride, the CRF1000L.

So that'd be AfricaJim and former XRVJim at the Stella :thumbsupanim:

Aye, Jim was there the last time, he's part of the Stella furniture I think. He was on his orange Tiger I seem to remember, while I was on my AT. I'll have to dig out a photo or two. Don't you fancy a trip to Italy Steve? If I go it'll be a slow trip (2/3 days each way) on the XL so I'm not looking for or expecting company. :D

Aye up Phil. Yup, 10 years. Time doesn't half fly which is why I was thinking of a return trip :thumbsupanim:

I have to admit Jim that the Stella is something I want to do again, as I've still to venture near the top :eekicon:

But . . . . . .

. . . . . having attended the event with Jim, Fiona & Hudders several years ago, I found the numbers going up and down the hill intimidating. I've been thinking of going down "out of season" so to speak, and doing some of the other alpine off road routes as well as the Stella.

So far this year I've just committed myself to the Taffy Dakar in April/May, so I've not ruled out a euroland trip within the summer months . . . . . but as I've mentioned elswhere on this site, I'd also like to venture further south in euroland and visit my sister on the med coast of Spain :cool2:

Never say never though

I must admit I spotted in my calendar the way the dates fall this year and wrote "Ooh look at the possible trip dates" there. I might be able to leave on 7th (or possibly day before) and afterwards I'd head to Pamplona for the end of the bull running festival, which ends on 14 July.

It's all a bit up in the air though at the moment as my son keeps threatening to return from Australia for a brief visit and if he did time it for his 21st birthday on 14 July, I'd be at home, naturally.

Ten years ago I remember coming home to a group of shocked mums having dinner with my wife: "You are going to Italy to share a hotel room with a complete stranger you have never met before who you met on the internet and you don't even know his real name and the name he uses on the internet is PigUglyShandyDrinker?"

And the rest, as they say, is history. :thumbsupanim:

There's that, but imagine Phil's end:

"You are going to Italy to share a hotel room with a complete stranger you have never met before who you met on the internet and he's a red faced bloke named Chris from dahn sarf??" :D

Ah yes, but it was probably a far less troubling decision for Phil. We're Yorkshiremen. Anything to cut down on costs. :D

Now then Chris, you were considering Pamplona 10 years ago. Have you made it there yet? Strangely the other trip I have in mind was one I think you suggested - a small place in Austria to a small place in Norway - just for the sticker! It an effing hell of a long way though :thumbsupanim:

Are you going to the Scottish M/C show again this year?

I went to Uni in Pamplona so have been back several times. I did go back by bike a few years later - with the guy who been forced to cancel that year. That was 21 years after we had first hitched down together. Mates eh? Stick like sh**....

I'm in discussions with possible firms over investing in/taking over the app, so everything is on hold as I am skint.

The other trip would be a good one. I have been doing some more research on it. It's a long way though. Three weeks minimum and no earlier than Late June due to the snow in northern Norway. I have a cunning plan. Will PM you when I get to my computer.
