Another Honda rescued from neglect. Nice one.

So, what's the opinion of this 500?

A Honda cbf500a Bob, what a lovely little bike for popping about on.
It's only done 10k by an 83 year old gent since new in 2007, unfortunately, stored in a damp garage so it's suffered quite a bit but the price was right

You missed the word 'gent' John

Poor bike was (well, still is) green with algae. 80 mile shake down run done and it runs like a swiss watch although I should get the 15yr old front tyre changed at sometime.
No fairing, no buffetting, no wind noise which is a welcome change. God knows how many screen combinations Ive been through throught the years!

Nice one Phil, is now your only bike, or just an addition to what you have|? I will treat the above comments with the contempt they deserve. ;) :oldman:

Is it any less green now?

The bike that is, not the countryside. ;)

    YES!
The wiring harness is still a bit green where it's less accessible.
I even gave the tank and plastics a polish. Me... polish. What on earth is the world coming to

    Polish:eek:

    Phil . . . . using polish??????

Next thing you know, he'll be washing his bike regularly

Great find, and good on you for giving it a new lease of life, though I can't believe your dumping the trusty Deauville for it o_O. That plastic pig has been good to you ;)

A picture of you a-stride the CB500 would make a good comedy moment :D

No risk of me becoming the washing/polishing type just yet Steve, The Transalp still has areas of pigeon bloom from overwintering in my bro's pigeon loft from last September.

As for the fat old bus, I have developed quite a fondness for the old girl, although not done great miles on it tbh, there will be an element of sadness when (if...) the ugly thing heads to pastures new.
She was bought for a reason (well, 2 reasons) and has served me well and fulfilled the reasons for buying it equally well, the main reason (trundling over the m62/A1) is no longer there - the other reason was to take the pee out of friends that think buying the latest & greatest steed (and the associated wallet emptying capabilities....) is the only way to enjoy motorcycling, which it is very obviously not .
I've had some absolutely brilliant reliable, depreciation free 'grand' tourers, the Deauville being one of 'em. I'm sure the little cbf will be another.

Hopefully the cbf will ease V back onto a bike - Frads funeral was the last time, she was pregnant with Toby so nearing 5 years ago now.

No comedy pics I'm afraid Steve, anyway the cbf is positively spacious compared to the NC30s or the NSR250 (shudda bloody kept that lot)

    Will do Tony
I always had a soft spot for the old cb500 but have never actually ridden one, designed and built right, from the days when Honda got stuff blob on.
Ssssh, don't tell anyone but I nearly went to view a Kawasaki...

Good grief! Cleaning bikes, nearly viewing a Kawasaki. Just what the hell's going on? :)

Clearly you need to change your medication. :)
