I managed to lose the cover over the swingarm pivot nut a while back.

Goodness knows where it went - I even cleaned out the shed but couldn't find it. Must have been "lost on the road". Yep, I have realised that the footrest hanger needs painting to cover the bare patches - and that the bike needs a wash.

The original cover from Honda (Part No: 90302-MS6-620) is £8.22 including VAT but not postage. It's a common part and used on a fair few of Honda's bike, so goodness knows why it's so expensive.

Anyway, here in Bodger's Corner we can do better - and cheaper!

The hole in the footrest hanger is 38mm or 1.5 inches in real money. What I was after was a thing called a blanking grommet, normally used to fill in holes in electrical panels and the like. Had no luck with my usual local suppliers, so onto fleabay to see what could be found. Came up with 10 38mm blanking grommets posted for £2.33. Not too shabby.

Delivered a couple of days later. This is what they look like -

Just need to trim the inner lip off with a craft knife -

It's not a really tight fit into the footrest hanger, but it fits -

And if it falls off, all I've lost is 23.3p - bit cheaper than £8.22 and postage - and I've got another 9 to replace it with.

Job done. Or should that be job bodged? :D

A friend with a lathe turned up some from brass for similar"holes"in his Deauville! Perhaps I'll get a lathe one day :)

how about £2 for 2? plus postage to me sir.

Good grief, that's far too much. Drop me a PM with your address and I'll bung a couple in the post for you. They might take a while to get to you as they're coming from Galway in the Irish Republic.

They really are not difficult to get hold of - a local electrical outlet (sorry :D ) should be able to supply some.

Will they fit the @? 2 please both mine missing.

Not sure if they'll fit. The fiche (for the swingarm/chaincase) shows the part to have a number of 90302-MM9-000, but doesn't give a size. You'll have to measure the size of the hole. These are for 38mm or 1.5 inches, whichever way you are inclined.

If anyone wants some of these blanking grommets it'll probably be just as quick to go to the original seller on fleabay - Auto Clips Direct.

It's not that I don't want to send any out, it's just that you'd "get more for less", if you see what I mean. Currently, the offer is £1.83 posted to the UK for 5 of them - 38mm black rubber blanking grommets.

I know mine are missing :eekicon: .... So I've already used Lutin's link and ordered some

(I just hope that my next post after receiving the grommets isn't to report a sliced digit ! ... I was never very good around sharp objects  )

Ah yes, you're probably right! According to my wife and kids I'm well into my second (or is it third) childhood !

But at least I bought a sensible bike, not a crotch-rocket or a sports car

Here's mine, after a few hundred miles. I didn't cut my fingers. ....used a pair of side-cutters rather than a knife: not pretty but it worked:)

Yes, I've seen the Mk.2 version ...... but I'm trying to put it at the back of my mind as PayPal has had a bit of a hammering already ;)
