Well it's finally happened..........

:)

Still no sign of it though. :(
I wanted to collect tomorrow (but didn't make that clear when I was talking to them, just assumed it would be ready within a few days)

To be fair they have emailed or phoned with an update everyday this week, but it doesn't make the waiting any easier......

seems to have a recurring issue with front fork seals (failed one year, weeping the next, so probably just wiped the stanchions and re moted it) but I'm aware of it so I'll keep an eye on it and get the warranty to handle it or just get them done myself.

for seals on a GS are simple to change - shouldn't take any more than half an hour to do both (might take longer if you want to drop the forks and change the oil but still a simple job)

Getting fed up now...…..

Spoke to SBF this morning and it's apparently with a mechanic, and should be ready for collection soon (that's exactly the same as they told me on Monday)

Pfffft,

Wanted to go to Angelsey on it on Friday.

(the Mrs has booked Friday-Monday off work and I haven't)

Looks like I'll either be going in the car on my own Friday night or using the father inlaws ER5 (which I have used before, and is a lot of fun on the back roads, but not the M56/A55)

Sigh...

Perhaps I should have discussed this with them before I agreed to buy it?

Stuck between wanting to shout and insist that it's ready for Friday (but risk them cutting corners and rushing it out of the door), and sitting back and waiting, cos it's the bike I want and I've waited this long, another few days wont make any difference.

Grrrrrrr….

I've got all my old (5 years since I wore any of it) bike gear out of the loft as well and none of it (even the sodding helmets) fit anymore (Ok, just enough of it does that I'll be covered in CE approved gear, but the colours are all wrong for a yellow/black bike and some of it might pinch!) :(

Part of me is thinking 'Why?'
but they have said they are very short of mechanics and selling a lot of bikes (and mine has a fuel leak which they need to fix as well as their so many point check, MOT, service)
I had already seen that they are advertising for mechanics on their website, so I guess there is just 1 guy with a massive backlog of work...

if they're not a BMW dealer I'd pretty much guarantee they don't service it properly anyway

mine was supposedly serviced before I collected it, being the type that doesn't trust a dealer to do what they say I'm mid way through doing it again myself
yep, suspicions proved right, no way was that final drive oil changed a few weeks ago - bet the gearbox is the same when I do that tomorrow

So the latest news is that the fuel pipe has now arrived (3 weeks after I paid a deposit)
The sales guy said they would try and get it in the workshop as soon as possible and as it might take a few hours to fit, then MOT it 'might' be ready in a couple of days and he would let me know.
Bit pissed off.....

I told him I would collect it on Saturday, no messing around I've been more than patient.

If it's not ready Saturday they can cancel the order, return my deposit and I'll buy one from somewhere else.

REALLY Frustrated.....

The Mrs told me from day one I shouldn't take any shit and insist that it's ready when I want it (2 weeks ago) not when they can be arsed, but I'm a bit too chilled for that.

I bet if they had loaned you a demo bike it would have been done within a much shorter time

Nothing very promising :(

I didn't cancel the order as I would then have been without a bike for my 2 weeks summer holiday. (but there is a chance I wont have it for then anyway)

As it stands The fuel pipe arrived and was fitted, they have now decided that the brake light switch on the bars is faulty so they have ordered another (probably from ebay as it seems to take ages for their parts to arrive and they have told me they have to wait for the 'post')

I got a call at 7:30 last night saying the switch has arrived, it will be fitted today then the bike will be road tested then MOTd then I can collect (probably Friday) it doesn't help that the company has closed down for the afternoon today (Thursday) so the staff can all attend a funeral (sounds like one of their staff has died)

So as long as nothing else goes wrong I should be riding it to Sunny Anglesey sometime tomorrow :)

Fingers Crossed.....

Yay, picked it up today just after 2pm. No new mot though :( to be fair they did give me the option of them. Mot ING it or me doing it myself. If they did it it would delay collection by a couple of hours, if I did it they would refund the cost and cover any work required (but after their 68 point inspection how could it fail?) so I've picked it up and it's booked in at my local (Anglesey) mot Centre tomorrow at 11. I rode it almost 150 miles from sbf to my caravan and I must say I'm impressed. I don't know how I've lived without a big bike since I sold the vstrom. It just feels like part of me. Got 2 weeks of riding and fishing ahead of me. Good Times....... :)

Finally! Glad you're sorted but I definitely feel your pain. Mine went in the shop as it was cutting out, got a call about 4 weeks later saying it was fixed. Needed a rotation/rotary sensor and also fork seals doing. £465, picked it up and rode the 30 miles home, a mile from home it cut out again twice, fucking fuming!

Back on the phone and they've picked the bike up and it's sat with them again. I have two weeks off work and no bike, I go back to work on Monday so I won't have had any time on it, bastard eh! :(

Been for a little ride round North Wales today. Copper mountain on Anglesey, then down to electric mountain and a little bimble round the mountains. :) :)

Last visited Parys Mountain some 40-odd years ago......... it looks to have very little more vegetation now than it did then. Do the various "lakes" still hold very strangely-coloured water?
Nice bike, by the way.

I do think that the 1200GS in that shade of yellow looks the best of them all

Nice wheels - enjoy :ride:

Yep, there weren't many 'Lakes' there due to the hot spell we have just had, but we took the dogs a couple of days later and they were both a very copper colour when we left (just from running around through the vegetation/rocks)
I go there a couple of times a year, but generally only stay in the carpark to take a couple of pics whilst I get my breath back from cycling, so this was my first time wandering round. Lovely place with bucket loads of history :)

I'm loving the bike, just struggling to find time to ride it now I'm back home and in work :( (company ban on motorbikes for work means I can't use it during working hours)
