So, I want a transalp with 75 to 80 hp and under the 200kg mark. Thinks they don't make one.
Love The A T but it is a bit of a weight especially as my back is a bit dicky. Must be 250kg with centerstand and crashbars.at least.
Going to try the yamaha tenere and the nc750.
Tracer 7 ?
Not too bothered about great offroad performance but needs to handle crappy single track.
And upright seating position.
Obviously needs to handle the run from skye to dent with little hassle.
Oh, and I like blue.

Sorry to hear time with the AT is limited Rick, I'm totally out of touch with stuff in the bike world so can't offer anything constructive [emoji2] although the Yam T7 seems to be up there.

I bought a cheapish (well) used CB500x last year to scratch an itch and do you know what, it's a far better bike than expected, bloody brilliant in fact, probably the most complete allround bike I've ever owned - so much so I think I'll keep it and no doubt another year passes with the Transalp sulking in the garage....

Had a look at the cb500x, current model.
It looks pretty good, new forks, twin disks, 300mile range. It does ha shims for tappets, which can be a pain. Just has abs, no user modes ect, which makes things simpler.
Edit Forgot to say, weight is significantly below the 200kg
Edit 2 and the price is pretty good too
To be fair, I haven't missed cruise control, so not too bothered about that.

Rick,

Give me a shout if you want to hook up for a spin.
You can hop on my T7, see what you think [emoji106]
Popping thru to mitchels today, by car unfortunately (wife shopping), have a look at what they have, then may have a browse round bmw.
There are a lot of bikes in this sort of area, quite surprising.

Good luck Rick, Kevin is sound. I'm sure he will see you alright.

I am pretty happy with Kevin and co they did a really good deal on my transalp, all those years ago. I think the problem with px my gs was that they send it straight to ivor at bmw.

Well thats the tenere off the list, its taller than the africa twin, I like the tracer t7 looked pretty handy though.
Been in bmw, f800 are as rare as hens teeth. F900 looks and feels nice to sit on.
Have to do test ride when weather is a bit kinder.

I had a test ride on a Tracer 700, too buzzy for me and does not have the low down torque of the NC750X and that engine unit looks like it will collect a lot of muck in hard to reach places, not that I bother with cleaning a lot as it's a waste of driving time. :)

Had the tracer 900 which was a good, easy bike to ride and handle. The down side was the rear suspension, which was appalling especially two up. I’d seriously consider the NC750.

Nc 750 is definitely being considered.

You would have to sell it when the warranty runs out! :)

Andy.[/QUOTE]There is that feeling in the back of one's mind [emoji1787]
After my experience with gs.

Maybe I should just get nc750 and wait for the new transalp, if it ever comes.

Probably be electric. [emoji2957][emoji2957]

Just wondered what range you get out of the nc750? Normal riding, like skye to dent.

On a run like that I would expect something like 75/78 Mpg, if you keep to the speed limits at all times it will give ranges in the high 80's. Lowest consumption I ever had was 62 Mpg caning it back from Wales loaded with camping gear and top box

Have ridden a F900XR and was very impressed with it . . . but not enough to part with my F800GS .
If I was to have only one bike and it was for road use only I'd seriously consider one. I've also ridden a F850GS and a F750GS. Neither of them sparkd my interest the way the F900XR did

I'm averaging over 84mpg on the NC750X (manual box version) over the 6k+ miles I've ridden it, but I do ride like a nun :D. My F800GS is averaging over 63mpg, as a comparison between the Honda parallel twin the the BM version.

You need to try an NC over a good run - I am finding it more and more engaging as the miles roll on.

Happy bike hunting.
