Thanks all you guys. My dad was doing so well with his battle with cancer (tough treatment but really effective) .Unfortunately he also had 65mm aortic aneurism which was untreatable because of his frailty, and that is what took him during the night. He died peacefully holding my hand,after about three hours. 85 yrs old,he was still racing his CBR600 powered hill climb car at 82. Not a bad life !

There won't be many on here will reach 85, never mind still racing at 82. I bet he had a few stories to tell.
On the subject of the National.
Now that Vader has allegedly moved North, I think the further south the better
Don't really care as long as there is sunny weather and erm dry

I doubt I will be there but how about the Isle of Wight. This is a very quirky campsite with various glam ping options for sleeping as well as little low huts with just a sleeping platform and of course tents.

I camped last summer. The owner is a cool guy and said he welcomed biker groups. Bonus is that there are a couple of tricky little fords on the way there. Downside is its a long walk to pub or shops.

Wherever it is down south it's a long way for you. But, make a proper trip out of it, blag a couple of nights bed space each way, keep off the motorway and you have the makings of a decent road trip.

I can't help thinking that anywhere off the mainland adds extra time and cost, probably limiting numbers.
