A lesson in economics

Went looking for some anti-freeze as I need to change the coolant on the Transalp. It's been a tad over five years since I last changed it - and yes,I did use long life stuff (and still got the old stuff to dispose of!).

Anyway, wound up in Halfrauds and got some of their Halfords OAT Antifreeze Concentrate - 2 Litre for the princely sum of €5 rather than the full price of €19.49.

Their ready mixed stuff is priced at €16.49.

And buying one litre of distilled water at €1.99 would still see a saving. Mind you, with the missus at the Uni distilled water is on-tap, as it were. :D

So, a bit of a saving. Mind you, if I can find the other unused litre of anti-freeze in another five years time I'll be doing really well. ;)

Edit: Just discovered that Halford's anti-freeze is just repacked Comma Oils anti-freeze.

Nice find.... the "mainland UK" site also has it , at £5 per 2l pack. I think I feel a trip to Halfords coming on!
(That's a great price.. I seem to recall selling antifreeze several years ago at about £4 for 2l, and that was the cheapo alcohol stuff, in our, long-defunct, non=profit Club shop)

I can get 5lts of Prestone in a local autofactors for 12.50 euro. It's specifically for the alloy engine. I the few times I've checked out Halfords I found them expensive.
I like to make sure all fluids are fresh so no doubt I'll tackle it soon or have a mate who is an excellent mechanic do it,one of the few I trust to wok on a bike without actually being there to see the work done.
