Oooh, that's not too good Phil, still, after 18 years hard graft I wouldn't complain. :)
However, I would check your water pump, circulatory kit etc prior to re fit to avoid a similar situation ( If you haven't done so already ;) )

The new engine is on its way from Holland so when it's fitted I'll be braking the other to find the problem and hopefully fix and sell on , time is against me as I've loads of work for the digger

My guess is it got a tad warm :cool:
We don't have many cracked blocks up here -- frost plugs popping and that's about it :(:)

Yes it popped 3 x plugs , I initially thought the head had gone and still could have but the speed the water entered the oil was very fast

I've got an L200 that breaks for fun. The 4wd system always packs up in winter, in summer it breaks its heads so rebuilt the engine after it span number 4 big end. Recently dumped all its coolant and left me with this. My old Capris never did this!

Wow, ever thought of taking up knitting or jigsaw puzzles.
Yeah, I rebuilt landrover 2.5 ltr engine under plastic sheet an scaffolding. The only thing i did not remove were the oil squirts. Craic on.
